Meditation is known to most people, as sitting still, closing of the eyes and listening to a voice that guides through calming visualisations whilst breathing calmly, enabling to find peace and let go of busy life for a moment. Unfortunately, this type of ‘sitting still’ meditation often only comes much later as many children and adults find this extremely hard or they have ‘no time’. But it is exactly those people, who find sitting still and reflect so hard, who could really do with ‘meditation’. This is why it is very important to know that there are so many different ways of meditating and it is not just about sitting still, singing mantra’s and humming sounds. Closing your eyes and minding your breathe for 15 seconds or walking through your garden and noticing the birds, flowers and bees, or seeing a sunshine in your stomach in order to wake yourself up and lift your spirits, is just as much worthy of the name ‘meditation’, as sitting in lotus pose for four hours, with your eyes closed and your mind in another galaxy. Meditation is too often misunderstood by many people. It still has a negative, hocus pocus hippy ring to it. That’s a real shame, as meditating can really change your life. For years I refused to meditate, hum and sing mantra’s, it just wasn’t my thing and I refused to look within even though that’s where all the answers lie I now know. Even though being highly sensitive and receiving Angelic messages, I was a rebellion. Now I know I was just scared for the Pandora box to open, scared for the unknown and what I would find. What did I really find the day I started ‘meditating’, listening to my breathe, saying thank you for all I have, smiling at others, sprinkle fairy dust on others, using hoovers to suck away uncomfortable energy, smelling the fresh air and flowers? I found peace, happiness, success, health, wealth, simply a real zest and passion for life. Life really is beautiful! Our emotions can change a hundred times a day what can make life incredibly confusing. Meditation and awareness training allows us to find the place in our hearts and minds where we feel happy and trusting, so that we can feel good again, in any situation, wherever we are, and as quickly as possible. ‘It is ok to feel, it is normal to feel angry, sad, desire, tiredness, hopeless…’ For too long we were told to ‘stop it’, ‘don’t be so angry’, ‘stop crying’, ‘don’t be so sensitive’, ‘don’t be so greedy’. By the time children have become adults, they have to deal with the after effect of the hundred years old ‘repressing of what we feel’, when anxiety, depression, life threatening illness and suicide enters adult life of way to many beautiful people. Enough! We are supposed to have fun and enjoy! When we teach the young generation to be in control and deal with their emotions on daily basis, I am convinced, depression, anxiety, serious illnesses, can become an illness of the past. Meditation and awareness exercises is about teaching children to be: • aware of their own importance in the world • aware of the role of energy • aware of how their thoughts and feelings influence their lives and those of others • aware of their connection with the beautiful planet we live on • and aware of how they can change anything for the better, easily and quickly, in order to create trust, strength and happiness. Teaching children to use fun visualisation techniques/meditation/awareness exercises, which they have control over, is so powerful, as it enhances creative thinking, mental strength, positive thinking, and self-esteem, in order to harness the mind – the basis of a fabulous, happy, and successful l The images are by Jokaines.
