For those of you who meditate, kudos to you! The energy that you receive while meditating not only soothes the mind, body, and soul, but it also holds great healing power. Introducing this healthy practice into your daily life will forever change you for the better. Meditation will help you develop an inner relaxation, thus creating a more harmonious, healthy, balanced life for yourself. Breathing properly is essential in meditation; as you begin to concentrate on each breath you take, you feel calmer, more relaxed.
Here is an easy way to get started. Choose a room where you feel comfortable. Sit in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor. You can also sit on the floor with your legs crossed in the meditative position, with your arms resting on your thighs and your index figure and thumb touching (the traditional yogic position). Take in a deep breath, hold it while you count to four, and then exhale while you count to four. You should do this at least eight times. As you begin your meditation, you are bringing yourself into center. Continue this breathing pattern throughout your meditation. Deep breathing calms you down and releases stress. We take this simple act of breathing for granted, but our breath is our very source of life. The Mayo Clinic recommends diaphragmatic breathing to treat emphysema. The calming that is associated with breathing techniques is why breathing exercises are taught in childbirth classes—to calm the mother and child at a stressful time.
Meditation was difficult for me to master, as it was hard for me to clear my mind, let alone sit still for any length of time. Sales people are usually categorized as type A personalities. We type A’s have a tough time slowing the mind and the body, as we tend to be hyper people. A friend and fellow psychic suggested that I follow along with a guided meditation. This allowed me to relax the conscious mind and let go as I was listening to a soothing voice, instead of having my own mind racing at a million miles per hour. I listen to a chakra healing meditation, as I need to heal myself often with the spiritual work that I do. When you meditate, you are drawing in the energy of the Divine from above. The energy that you draw in will heal your body more effectively. I am always surprised at how much information flows into my mind during my thirty-minute session. When you meditate, you will receive important information. Do not discard the information as irrelevant, as all information acquired during meditation is important or you would not be receiving it. This is how the Universal Energy works.
There are numerous guided meditations available on CDs, as well as many free computer downloads available, to keep you on the right track. This is what has worked for me, and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I can actually say I am a calmer, more centered person because of meditation. The amount of information that you gather while in a meditative state is priceless. Meditating enhances your psychic abilities. Meditation is similar to dreaming, and you tend to forget the information quickly, so it is helpful to have a journal handy to jot it down.
If you do not have thirty minutes to meditate in the morning, take an additional fifteen minutes at lunch time. My son-in-law goes out to his car and meditates at his lunch break to clear his mind. He says it rejuvenates him to complete the rest of his day. My husband meditates in the Jacuzzi in the morning because that is what works for him. You need to do what works for you. Begin by meditating for ten minutes a day. I guarantee you that somehow you will find more time to meditate as you begin to reap the benefits of this ancient practice.
