(Excerpt from Kala Ambrose’s book, The Awakened Psychic: What You Need to Know to Develop Your Psychic Abilities) We all have intuitive hunches. Sometimes I describe them as gut feelings. You get these hunches when you look at a person and just don’t get a good feeling about them, or when you just “know” not to take that job or go out and meet that person tonight. These gut feelings are very important to pay attention to. As many will testify, hunches are hardly ever wrong. Most stories that people share about their hunches or gut feelings aren’t about when they listened to them and all went well, but rather when they didn’t listen to these feelings and knew they should have. Yet they ignored them anyway, because they felt sorry for the person, felt silly canceling the event that had been planned with other people, or didn’t want to hear the fallout and complaints. Many times my intuitive hunches help me make a decision about something that is directly affecting me, such as canceling a certain appointment, signing some papers at a later date, or not engaging with a person or situation. Making decisions based on gut feelings is not always easy or comfortable. Other people often don’t understand why you are “changing your mind” all of a sudden. On some occasions, you won’t be able to explain why you have changed your mind because it would involve sharing personal information about other people that you are only aware of through your psychic abilities. (There is a code of ethics among psychics that prohibits sharing private information about people with others.) The best way to handle these types of situations is to pay attention to your intuitive hunch and then follow it up with gaining psychic confirmation on the situation. The difference between having an intuitive hunch and knowing something to be true through psychic ability comes with practice. With a hunch, you have an overall sense of something, a feeling that something is wrong or that a person isn’t being truthful, but you can’t quite put your finger on what’s going on or what the person is lying about. As you develop your psychic skills, you are able to delve deeper into the aura energy field around the person or group of people and can home in on the details to get a clearer picture of the situation. For example, when people are first developing their psychic abilities, they may walk into a home and feel a sense of dread and sadness, but have no clue why they are having this feeling. As they strengthen their psychic ability, they are able to connect with the energy field in the room and see that a horrible accident, in which people lost their lives, happened here. They are feeling the residual etheric energy from this incident and possibly even a ghost. Another example is getting an intuitive hunch that a person is lying to you or someone around you. You first get the sense that the person is being deceitful, and many times beginning psychics describe this as an uneasy and slimy feeling that washes over them as the person speaks. Later as they develop stronger psychic abilities, they are able to pinpoint the lie by following the energy vibration as the person speaks, and they see or sense the vibration as it goes negative into a lie. As your psychic ability develops further with training, you are able to tune in to a hunch and see the thoughts and thought forms or pictures in the aura around the person, which portray the bigger picture of it all. This is not one hundred percent accurate all the time. Pathological liars for example, are tricky, as they believe the lies that they are speaking, so the pictures in their thought forms portray their belief in the truth of what they are saying at times. Another challenge is that when you are emotionally connected with others, your emotional field clouds your ability to clearly discern what they are saying to you. This is why many psychics find it difficult to read for family and loved ones. The best way to begin understanding this ability is by following the hunch and then gaining further clarity through your psychic skills. In these situations, I begin by paying attention to my hunch that something is wrong. These feelings can be so overwhelming sometimes that I literally feel it in my gut and endure physical sensations of being ill in the solar plexus area. When I then take the time to breathe deeply, clear my thoughts, and go within to center my energy, I can see psychically what is at play with the thoughts and actions of others and discern why my intuitive self is trying to send me a message and warning of things to come. As you develop your psychic abilities, you’ll be able to move from just having uncomfortable gut feelings and vague intuitive hunches to understanding at a deeper level what is going on with the people around you. Exercise: Advancing from Gut Feelings to Psychic Ability To begin practicing this ability, pay attention when you have a gut feeling or hunch that something is not right. When you feel this type of energy, the tendency is to tighten up and go into a protective stance. However, when we become tense, we close down our psychic ability. The next time you experience this feeling, first ensure that there is no danger present at this time. Once you have discerned that you are in a safe space and are just picking up on the energy of the person near you who is perhaps trying to push you into making a decision or trying to manipulate your feelings, you can work to open up your intuition. First, take three deep breaths and surround yourself with a white-light field of protection, asking that only energy of the highest good be allowed to permeate your auric fields. See this bubble of white light surrounding you and creating a force field around your energy body. Now that you have protected your energy fields, relax. Continue to breathe deeply and become more aware of your surroundings. As you relax and sync with your breathing, you will find that the world slows down around you. When you are ready, pay attention to the energy of the person who is making you feel uncomfortable and producing this gut feeling or hunch. Now listen as the person continues to speak. If you are able, close your eyes and just listen. If for polite reasons, you need to keep your eyes open, allow your gaze to continue in their general direction, while not looking at them directly in the eye. In this relaxed state, ask your higher self to assist you in opening up your psychic ability in order to understand what you are feeling as an intuitive hunch or gut feeling about this person. You will also need to work to detach yourself emotionally from the situation and what the person is saying. Allow the thoughts and images that come to you to flow freely. Just listen and pay attention. Over time, the images and impressions will become clear to you. When you are relaxed, you are no longer in the protective mode that closes down your psychic sensitivities. You have a white-light shield of protective energy surrounding you. Because you are no longer engaged emotionally in what the person was trying to impress upon you, you are able to see more clearly and use your psychic ability to discern what my teacher used to call “the true meaning behind what they are meaning.” With practice, you will be able to discern what others are emitting through their energy fields with their thoughts, emotions, and words. You will see how their energy can disrupt and affect your energy field and others in the same room. Your white-light protection bubble bounces this energy away from you so that it dissipates into nothingness and does not affect your energy field directly. This allows you to psychically tune in and see what energy is flying around the room. You’ve always felt this energy, knowing that a person made you feel uncomfortable, but with practice, you’ll soon be able to determine what type of energy is emitted and understand the deeper meaning of what is occurring in this exchange.
