October 2023 Mystic Living Today AHAM PREMA Dear One, Once again, we return to this mystical realm to be with one another, learn from one another, and expand into the essential wonders and goodness of who we all are. Welcome! I am honored to have you join me on this sacred journey of the inner life we all share. I have been thinking about writing this column for some time because of the mantra AHAM PREMA. AHAM PREMA is a sacred Sanskrit mantra for I AM DIVINE LOVE. Just saying these words draws us inward. And then we can carry the meanings deep into our sacred hearts and from there send them far and wide out into our world. Just this one intention contains so many blessings. Mantras are centering words that take us from our busy minds into the beautiful silence within. The Sanskrit mantras are imbued with sacred Sanskrit syllables that have their own divine purpose. They have been chanted for thousands of years by saints, wise beings, and people just like you and me. So, each time we repeat a Sanskrit mantra, we become imbued with these universal energies from long ago. When we chant them or breathe them in and out, we personalize them with our own energies which can contain any intentions you may have at any time - for yourself, for others, and for the world. You then become a conduit for Divine Love. And how very powerful this is in the realm of soul. And there is more. Once we know that we are Divine Love, we can generalize. Then all others also have this scintillating sacredness within them as well. This is something they may not yet know but, once we know it, we begin to look at the other differently – with sacred soul-filled eyes. Then our state changes into a softer more compassionate one and the energies of our relationship to the other also shift. You can see how potentially powerful this can be – the repetition of a few ancient Sanskrit syllables leading to greater harmony within and without. This is one way to change our state and our world. There are three ways I suggest practicing AHAM PREMA: In the first, settle into yourself by taking a few deep and slow centering breaths. Clear your mind of all thoughts. Set an intention for shifts in your state, for someone else, or for the world. Breathe deeply again and remind yourself that I AM DIVINE LOVE – AHAM PREMA. Become this truth by repeating this mantra in Sanskrit or in your language of choice over and over and over. After just the right amount of time has passed, open and be curious as to who you are now with this mantra living inside of you. The second way to become one with this mantra is to repeat it when you are engaged in any activity. For example: I AM DIVINE LOVE as I write these words. I AM DIVINE LOVE with each step I take on a walk. AHAM PREMA as I take care of my children. I AM DIVINE LOVE when I deal with a difficult person or situation. The third way is to write this mantra as a series of affirmations, much like the second practice of repeating it moment by moment. Committing it to paper allows another of your senses to stabilize it within. AHAM PREMA I AM DIVINE LOVE each time I speak my truth in a clear and kind way. AHAM PREMA I AM DIVINE LOVE when I act with strength instead of weakness. AHAM PREMA I AM DIVINE LOVE when I share my love with others. AHAM PREMA I AM DIVINE LOVE now lives within me and infuses all my words and actions. For this next month, you might want to make AHAM PREMA a daily practice in as many ways as you can. Then notice what happens. You may find that, more and more often, your golden heart sings of love and you become more and more love. Namaste, Elaine https://everydaysouldances.com |
