In the Heart of Autumn
not unlike a giddy goat wandering among the ruins of a long lost civilization you keep searching in the central park a way out of the tall weeds as nature makes new york into a mummy blue Autumn Montage between two sharp chest ribs of an isolated birch skeleton dusk-dyed and wind-carved hung still on an invisible wall comes to perch an ageing crow whose bold beak holds a cold and pale prophesy old with all withered leaves palette-cut blowing towards gates and doors like the fliers sent randomly from an alien chain store Falling Leaf Shaking off all the dust You have accumulated over the season Flapping your wings against twilight At the border of night Like a butterfly coming down to Kiss the land As if to listen to The heartbeat of the earth Only once in a lifetime Just Another Fallen Leaf Caught in a twig You hung on there Not only to welcome new leaves But to embrace life like the tree Dusk Sitting on a park bench You saw a lost crow as lonely As you were, whose dark shadow Was fading into twilight, bit by bit Like your soul Shredded into pieces Now drifting along the skyline of Vancouver West In the Lot One Lincoln appears to be moving Two crows are dancing around Several leaves are rolling along Nothing has really settled down Is there a place for you? For whom Are those spaces reserved anyway? The fallen cone misses its post high up There, though it is not far from the roots You have to wait, probably for nothing While your engine keeps running. Many Prints of worn-out tires. A big sign board Prohibits unauthorized vehicles like yours I am tired of being always on the run But where on earth can I park my car?
