What, why & how
With logic and rote
Thru childhood & teens,
We are taught to know,
Soak up and mine
Mounds of knowledge
Rewarded for conformity
Rewarded to Know,
Making through to security
and defined careers to tow
Knowing what’s happening
Knowing how to be shrewd
navigating worldly labyrinths
for results to brew
Knowing is success,
Knowing gets you power
Knowing becomes the atman,
that patterns your life
Then, Life and Universe
take unpredictable forms,
bearing uncertainty, losses,
that don’t fit learnt norms
All knowing comes up short,
Powerless and shallow
the substratum crumbles
sparking anxiety to wallow,
tumbling down the knower
to a state of blue funk.
Confronting external storms
call for mining inner truth,
invoking insights,
reframing mindsets
to align with the New.
Alas, the ways of wisdom,
Awareness, and Silence,
are so utterly lost
to all consuming blast & blare,
evangelists, broadcasters
viral platforms, firebombing
