Nostradamus’s Prediction of Queen Elizabeth II’s Death in 2022? Did He Really? By Stephen William,  UK Based Spiritualist Author of.  ”Nostradamus His Successful Prophecies and Mysticism  Explored.” Available From Amazon Now!   In recent months , the unfortunate death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022 occurred . She was ninety-six years of age and had been Monarch of the United Kingdom for 70 years. In fact ,she and the United Kingdom just a few months previously had celebrated with a Public Holiday for her Platinum Jubilee. This Jubilee was also celebrated in various ways  throughout much of the Commonwealth which she was head of , especially in the countries where she  still reigned as Monarch such as Canada etc.    PHOTO OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II AS A YOUNG WOMAN. SHE LIVED TO THE GREAT AGE OF NINETY -SIX.   Because of her great age it was unlikely for somebody many years in the distant  past such as Nostradamus in the 1500s, to predict correctly she would die at the advanced age of ninety-six years old. Even in our medically advanced age with advanced pharmaceuticals and sophisticated surgical techniques people in developed countries normally pass away in their seventies or eighties if not before. It is still quite unusual to live to your mid-nineties. However, according to some journalists, a British writer called Mario Reading ,claimed Nostradamus predicted that the Queen would die in 2022! This was widely reported in the British Press and in other news outlets in some other parts of world. Having written a book on Nostradamus  it obviously  provoked my interest ,especially as I owned a copy of Mario Reading’s book “Nostradamus. The Complete Prophecies for the Future” ! Furthermore, I bought it several years ago , so convenient “revising” by  an opportunistic publisher was not possible! So, I  dug out my copy to see what he had actually  written. Mario Reading sadly passed away in 2017 of cancer, so he is not around  to expand on the two Nostradamus Quatrains which appears to predict the sad demise of  Queen Elizabeth II that he apparently calculated would happen in 2022. The book was first published in hardback in 2006. My edition was published in 2010 in paperback. As mentioned,   I bought my copy several years  ago. Therefore, the information in it is as Mario Reading did actually  write it, without later revision. On my checking, he placed Nostradamus’s  Quatrains which does refer to a divorced King  and what also seems to be the British King in 2022 , so therefore indicating that Queen Elizabeth II was no longer alive. In the British monarchy it is custom that monarchs do not retire or abdicate  and effectively ”die in harness.” If they are too ill or otherwise unavailable to perform the duties of the role ,a Regent is appointed , very often the monarch’s potential successor ,until the monarch is available to perform the role again or dies. As King Charles who is divorced, was never formally made Regent, it indicates that his mother had passed away. It also seems to imply that the King is new in the role and there is doubt whether he is a suitable person to inherit the role because of his divorced status. This may seem old fashioned , but the British monarch is also Supreme Governor of the Church of England. This a religious role obviously . Although the Church of England does permit divorce for its members,  it does not really approve of the concept of divorce. This is illustrated by the fact the Church of England does not permit divorcees to remarry in one of its churches , except in exceptional circumstances.     A YOUNG KING CHARLES PICTURED WITH A YOUNG QUEEN CAMILLA.   As King Charles’s behavior whilst he was married to his first wife Diana, Princess of Wales, seems to have been a  factor in provoking the divorce, he was only allowed to marry his current wife , Queen Camilla, in a civil ceremony in  Windsor Guildhall. However, their union was blessed in a Church of England church soon after. Some people within the United Kingdom and the wider Commonwealth still many years later ,disapprove of the Charles’s behavior prior to his divorce. However, I do not feel today that would be enough to cause him to resign or abdicate, as some commentators imply the Quatrains means. Mainly because a sizable section of modern British society are now divorced themselves or are closely related to a divorcee. Some couples live together for all their lives without getting married also. The Quatrains in question in their original Medieval Provencal French are as follows. Quatrain 6/72. Par fureur faincte d’esmotion divine, Sera la femme du grand fort violee, Juges voulans damner telle doctrine, Victim au people ignorant immolee. Modern English Translation. THROUGH FEIGNED FURY OF A DIVINE EMOTION, THE WIFE OF THE GREAT ONE IS GREATLY VIOLATED, JUDGES WISHING TO DAMN SUCH A DOCTRINE, THE VICTIM IS IMMOLATED BY IGNORANT PEOPLE. N.B. These English translations are not actually Mario Reading’s, they are  mine. There are two reasons why I have done this. The first is those of a cynical mind, cannot accuse the late author of mistranslating Nostradamus’s original verses, so that that they fit this twenty-first century event . I have used traditional English translations ,which were made many decades ago , before the late Queen’s passing. They resemble Mario Reading’s  and so does my own research input. The second reason is for the more mundane reason,  to avoid a copyright breach! Mario Reading made these translations in the twenty-first century! THROUGH FEIGNED FURY OF A DIVINE EMOTION, THE WIFE OF THE GREAT ONE IS GREATLY VIOLATED. King Charles III in some ways is a controversial person. He is the first divorced British monarch  for over four hundred years. Divorced monarchs in any  other major country are virtually unknown. Because of his acknowledged adultery with the then Mrs. Camilla Parker Bowles,  the  now Queen Camilla, some people in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth think that they are not suitable to be King and Queen of the countries that Charles is monarch of . Queen Camilla has suffered anger from some of the public. A sizable amount of people have  seen her as a “marriage wrecker.” Yet to be fair, another sizable section of the population accept that they were both in unhappy marriages and were in love with one another before they married their respective first spouses. A wrong had been righted and that they should have been free to marry when they were young . They probably, therefore, would not have been divorcees or adulterers and would be acceptable as King and Queen to most people. Nobody other than the couple themselves exactly  know why they did not get married before they married other people. Though, many royal  commentators strongly suspect that it was because firstly ,Camilla was untitled and therefore technically a “commoner.” Despite apparently having an aristocratic maternal grandfather and coming from a wealthy and “well connected” paternal background ,her untitled status would have been deemed unsuitable for a man to destined to be the next King. Secondly, it was apparently speculated that she had  possibly had sexual relationships before she met Charles. For a future King and future head of the Church of England not to marry a virgin was considered unallowable. Therefore, if the young couple had sought to marry , the then Royal protocol would have made life extremely uncomfortable for them and probably blocked the marriage ,whatever their feelings. Such a snobbish attitude to her untitled status , nearly a half a century later seems almost unbelievable today , considering both Charles’s sons have married women of untitled and non-aristocratic backgrounds ! However, the world has changed a lot in the past fifty years, probably because of anomalies like this situation. Coupled with the fact that even in the 1970s when  the King and Queen were first involved, many people even with apparently  conventional strong religious beliefs were not entirely sexually inexperienced when they got married .Therefore  Mario Reading was very accurate in his interpretation of the first two lines of this quatrain. “Feigned fury of divine emotion” probably refers to this requirement of potential royal brides to go to the marital bed as virgins. Apart from the apparent religious prohibition against pre-marital or extra-marital sex (fornication), it is a matter of historical record, that most adult Royal males did not get married in times past without previous sexual experience with other people. So, “feigned fury” i.e., fake fury is a particularly good summing up of the situation that would have confronted a young Charles and Camilla. Hypocrisy about previous Royal history and a naïve feigned ignorance of sexual behaviour of young people in the 1970s. “The wife of great one” (Camilla) also was “greatly violated” by  a section of society ,despite her now monogamous behaviour in her second marriage to Charles. Yet this could be another of one Nostradamus’s many double meanings. Which “The wife of the great one”? Camilla was obviously greatly violated, but so was Diana, Princess of Wales. Firstly, she apparently discovered that her marriage was loveless. There appeared to be fault on both sides with this. However, the fact her husband was conducting an affair behind her back with his former girlfriend must have mortifying and the marriage was confirmed as  indeed loveless. However,  after her marriage appeared to be dead she took various lovers. This was eventually reported word-wide in newspapers, with her alleged raging tempers and throwing herself downstairs deliberately etc. which was  very publicly  humiliating for her. It could therefore be  said that both wives of the “great one” were “greatly violated.” This apparent  Nostradamus double meaning appears to show that it could be, Camilla and Diana that are the subject of this quatrain. JUDGES WISHING TO DAMN SUCH A DOCTRINE, THE VICTIM IS IMMOLATED BY IGNORANT PEOPLE. The third and fourth line appear to bring the connection to situation of King Charles’s divorce and re-marriage to the first two lines. The Press particularly the down-market tabloid Press in the UK and elsewhere had a fine time condemning all three unhappy people in this situation. They certainly” judged” all three of them . A lot of reference was made to the divorce and how it was contrary to the Church of England views on divorce. The Church of England that Charles was to be head of when he became King. This of course was factually correct. Yet many of the editors and journalists writing this information did not seem themselves to be religious in their behaviour, i.e., regularly attending a place of worship  or in their professional and work lives. They  regularly  wrote and published  salacious stories with high sexual content and in some publications printed photographs of nude or near nude women in highly provocative positions. Their professional “religion” seemed to be “sell as many copies as possible” and as they all knew “sex sells.” How very pious of them! Of course, in their private lives some  of these journalists were divorcees themselves and indulged in extra-marital sex. Nostradamus appears to have noticed them “damning “ the Royals for their  sexual transgressions , whilst leading louche lifestyles themselves. The hypocritical stance of these writers would have been likely to have inspired him to write these verses. The ”victim”  could be all three of them ,depending on your point of view. All have been “immolated” the alternative word is “sacrificed,” by ignorant people. The full  real details of this marriage, divorce and  re-marriage   saga are not known to the general public . However, the constant flow of sensational “information” about all three of them from the Press and TV has led to people taking fixed views about all of them. For example, Camilla, whilst shopping, was once chased out of a supermarket in England by a group of women, allegedly yelling “Let’s get her”! Charles’ suitability for his kingship because of this situation is still questioned  by a sizable minority of people. However, many people in high profile positions have  far more “tangled” private lives but are treated as popular celebrities . Nostradamus the pro-monarchist and a man who benefited from Royal patronage ,would have been astonished of such public criticism of a king , by people who were so lenient towards other members of their society for greater “moral lapses” ! In his time ,most kings were openly promiscuous ! Even though Nostradamus appears to have been perhaps monogamous in his two marriages. Perhaps the most immolated or sacrificed member of this trio was Diana. In the Press’s relentless quest for information about her private life, “paparazzi” style photographers and reporters pursued her car one night in Paris. Their interest was the nature of her relationship with her male companion that night. That probably led to her death and that of her companion through a collision caused by her car being driven too fast by her driver. The ultimate immolation or sacrifice perhaps ?   KING CHARLES MARRYING HIS FIRST WIFE DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES.   This happened in Nostradamus’s own country France and caused world-wide coverage of the tragic event  . France was by then a republic for over two hundred years ,yet a foreign royal on an expensive night on the town was hounded to her death, by a news information industry, which could not even be dreamed of in his own era , by himself or his readers of that period. This would have demonstrated to his future readers his prophetic abilities just as well as his glimpses of aircraft, submarines etc. have done. Mario Reading was correct to see this link with the Royal Affairs of the 1990s, yet what is the link with 2022 and the passing of Queen Elizabeth in that year? Quatrain 10/22.( Mario Reading linked the twenty-two in this Quatrain with the year 2022) Pour ne vouloir consentier a divorce, Qui puis apres sera cogneu indigne, Le Roi des Isles sera chasse par force, Mis a son lieu que de roi n’aura signe. Modern English Translation. BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CONSENT OF HIS DIVORCE, A MAN, WHO AFTERWARDS, THEY CONSIDERED UNWORTHY, THE KING OF THE ISLANDS WILL BE FORCED OUT, A MAN WILL REPLACE HIM WHO HAD NO SIGN OF  KINGSHIP.   BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CONSENT OF HIS DIVORCE,                                                                                                                                                 This is an amazing foresight by Nostradamus ! He uses the word divorce instead of annulment .The French word for annulment is the similar “annulation.” In his time “annulment” was the device to end non-working Royal or aristocratic marriages. The Roman Catholic Church approved annulment, unlike divorce. It usually involved non- consummation of the marriage or dishonest declarations made before the marriage  by one of the partners. Divorce as we know it today was not permitted and still today that is the Roman Catholic Church’s position on the matter. His foresight that the British monarchy would still be Protestant in a mainly Protestant country which permitted divorce is astonishing . It is true King Henry VIII of England  famously divorced his first wife and the Church of England left the Roman Catholic Church as a  consequence of that, before Nostradamus wrote this prophecy. However, in the staunchly Roman Catholic France of Nostradamus’s time, this fledgling church was not expected to survive. Henry’s eldest daughter Queen Mary I when she succeeded the English throne ,  tried to turn  England back into a Roman Catholic country and executed over three hundred Protestant dissenters to try to achieve this. Her younger sister Queen Elizabeth I who succeeded Mary on her death was a committed Protestant as the new faith was popular , but she had to fight off an attempted invasion by Spain ,whose main objective was to return England and other parts of Britain ,back to the Roman Catholic faith. Nostradamus’s prophecy at this time would have gone against the majority French received wisdom of the time .  This was a brave, clear view of future events by the French prophet.   A MAN, WHO AFTERWARDS, THEY CONSIDERED UNWORTHY, There are still some people who feel disapproval of the divorce nearly thirty years later . Also, some of King Charles ‘s staff’s fund- raising efforts for his otherwise admirable charities has prompted a police investigation. On top of this there is a growing anti-royalist movement  in the UK  which has the slogan “Not My King”. Could Nostradamus have foreseen this ? This Quatrain could be read to have. THE KING OF THE ISLANDS OF THE ISLANDS WILL BE FORCED OUT, There appears to be no real chance of this happening in the UK, as I write. King Charles has been proclaimed  as King in 2022 and has been crowned this year . However, it is unlikely he will resign by public displeasure at his divorcee status. Yet he is the only real candidate for this prophecy. Not only he is divorced, but Nostradamus refers to the King of the Islands. There is no King of any other existing dynasty that has so many important islands as Charles where his is King. Apart from the chain of islands that make up the United Kingdom, he is King of Australia and all its islands . New Zealand which consists of various islands . Also, several Caribbean nations which consist of various islands and various other islands around the world. Nostradamus’s description of him does not match anybody else. Canada the second biggest country in the world by land space has many large islands also. Yet, some of the tropical islands are considering becoming republics although remaining in the Commonwealth. These could become republics during King Charles Reign. Therefore, Nostradamus’s prophecy would come to pass! The King would be” forced out” by a referendum vote. In the United Kingdom as mentioned previously, there are questions about the fund- raising activities of some of the King’s staff in relation to his charities. There is an ongoing police investigation into this, but it is unlikely this investigation would cause King Charles personally to resign. A MAN WILL REPLACE HIM WHO HAD NO SIGN OF KINGSHIP. There is all sorts of speculation on this last line, including by Mario Reading himself. Mario Reading postulated that Prince William, King Charles oldest son, who is now the Heir to the Throne, would somehow not be available to take over the Throne should Charles not be seen as suitable and his second son Henry, known as Prince Harry, would take over the kingship. However, Mario Reading made this suggestion before the birth of Prince George, William’s eldest son who automatically would be the next in line to succeed the Throne. The only surprise to Prince George would be to succeed his grandfather at an early age. Prince William his father, who currently is in good health and very much alive is very unlikely to be unavailable ! Nevertheless, Charles has been proclaimed and crowned King. He is also in good health for his age. So , who could be this man who never expected to  be King be? Firstly, it is unlikely to Prince Harry. He has already stepped away from his Royal duties and now lives in the United States. He has been openly critical of the Royal Family. He is unlikely to recant his position. He is no longer very popular in Britain because of this. Nostradamus’s previous terminology to describe non-royal successors to previous kingdoms, however, may provide a clue. In the cases of Oliver  Cromwell and Napoleon Bonaparte , Nostradamus refers to them  as “King” and “Emperor”  indicating  although they are non-royal leaders , the function as Head of State would  give them the near status of a King or Emperor. Presidents of any the states where Charles is currently King, , would therefore be the new Head of State ,fulfilling the function of a King . Virtually all these people in their earlier lives could never have expected to be a Head of State, so this therefore fulfils Nostradamus’s prophecy that a man or in this age a woman with  “no sign of kingship” would indeed succeed King Charles. Being a President, of course they also would not have the title of King, so therefore also fulfilling the prophecy. Nostradamus appears to see the rise of the English and then later the British (the Isles etc.) in various Quatrains to becoming the most influential European nation with enormous influence throughout the World . But then the following relative decline in its influence , such as with this Quatrain with former territories that had a British monarch as their King, declining to continue with that status. For a man living in 16th century France when there would have been no indication of that happening , this is a tremendous feat of prophecy and cannot be explained by no other means than a supernatural insight. As he would have wished it to be seen. This situation is I believe what links these Quatrains with 2022. However, what did Mario Reading see to link these two Quatrains with the year 2022? Apart from the twenty-two number of the second Quatrain.   Nostradamus himself,  did not specifically use  the date 2022? Mario Reading claims to have worked out the system that  Nostradamus was using to date his predictions. It was based supposedly on the numerical sequencing of the Quatrains. Unfortunatel, there are some flaws to this theory. Firstly, regarding the 2022 predictions , Queen Elizabeth II is not identified by either description or name. In the latter Quatrain a King is mentioned ,who is clearly a British King indicating that probably the Queen has deceased. Yet it is not mentioned exactly when she ceased being Queen. Although the King appears to be new to the Throne, she could have passed on in the previous year 2021 or even earlier. I think at this moment, it should be pointed out for many decades this quatrain was linked with the 1930s Abdication of King Edward VIII ,King Charles’s Great Uncle. However, the Crown passed to his younger brother George VI  as Edward did not have a child to succeed him. Obviously , George VI had a prospect of ”Kingship” because of his brother’ s childlessness , unlike the successor mentioned in the Quatrain 10/22.     PHOTO OF EDWARD VIII AND WALLIS SIMPSON ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. BECAUSE OF OBJECTIONS TO HER DIVORCED STATUS, HE HAD TO ABDICATE TO BE ABLE TO MARRY HER. THEY WERE KNOWN AS THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF WINDSOR FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. KING CHARLES III’S GRANDFATHER WHO WAS EDWARD’S YOUNGER BROTHER SUCCEEDED HIM AS KING. Further to this, Mario Reading dates another Quatrain 2/22 to 2022. It does not seem to refer to anything that has happened this year. Also, some of the other future predictions that Mr. Reading  placed on specific years apparently seem to demonstrate his theory about this system, do not work! For example, using his theory of dating, the UK or at least part of it (minus Scotland ,according to Mario!) in Quatrain 8/60  will leave the EU in 2060! This seems to clash with the fact the entire United Kingdom formally left the EU in 2020. Admittedly in Scotland ,  a clear majority wanted to remain in the EU, but the UK as a whole left years earlier, even though it remains a contentious decision , amongst some of the British population. Though what it does show that even on this matter, Nostradamus did foresee the British leaving the European Union at some time in the 21st century! Mario Reading was a skilled and competent commentator on Nostradamus’s prophecies, however his attempt to narrow them down to specific years in advance of their occurrence does not seem to work as well as he  thought it would .   His book “Nostradamus. The Complete Prophecies For The Future “  although an informative read, was a step too far in nailing them down to specific years . The numerical sequencing in quatrain numbers he thought would  reveal the year an event would happen  would have possibly been spotted many decades before his time and we would have the future accurately laid out for us already! Prophecies must come to pass for them to be prophecies. If something unpleasant was accurately spotted at a specific date , steps could be taken to prevent it from happening. Therefore, there would be no accurate prophecy! Also, the concept of free will would be endangered. Many major events are caused by human actions. If the people who would have been involved in the incident for good or bad thought it was inevitable to happen , they may not take the actions that cause it to happen and it would not occur! Consequently, the predicted event does not happen. Mario Reading when he surmised that a man who does not expect to be King, might be Prince Harry, was making this assumption before Prince William’s children  were born. This demonstrates the problem of predicting what Nostradamus was predicting. Nostradamus with his view of the future  would have seen that William would have had children ,so Harry was unlikely to ever be the recipient of the Royal Crown. So, given that the numerical system that  Mario Reading thought gave him the ability to correctly date Nostradamus’s predictions does not work, how did he manage to correctly date this one? Apart from the possibility  of coincidence or a logical deduction (the Queen was 96 in 2020 ,so unlikely to still be alive), how did Mario Reading get these Nostradamus’s predictions married up with the correct year they happened? He unfortunately passed away as mentioned in 2017, so we cannot debate the point with him. For example, he  translated Nostradamus’s  correct prediction  of a world-wide  financial crisis, Quatrain 28/8 and placed it in the year 2028. Yet in the edition (published after 2008) I own it is placed in 2008 the year it actually happened . Mario Reading supplies an Author’s Note explaining why it had been moved to 2008 ,as Nostradamus’s predicted crisis had actually occurred, albeit 20 years early. Without labouring the point further, I think this proves that using the numerical sequence of Nostradamus ‘s quatrains does not actually work. Nostradamus received the quatrains in “Centuries” over a period of years and probably numbered them in the sequence he received  them. Therefore ,unless he puts a date reference in the Quatrain , (such as The Great Fire of London in 1666) there is not any tangible way of dating when the event will happen in advance. I think Mario Reading was correct to link the Quatrains to King Charles, rather than his Great Uncle King Edward, but  why did he place these Quatrains in 2022 correctly? Obviously, his theory of being able to date them by the quatrain numbers does not work as he thought. So,was it luck? Coincidence? Or something else? Sometimes when working on a spiritual matter, especially in writing, you get flashes of inspiration from what appears nowhere . For example,  although I had only just started working as a spiritual medium in 1999, as soon as I saw a news story in July 1999, I immediately knew it was the fulfilment of Nostradamus’s famous July 1999 Quatrain. It fitted many elements of the quatrain exactly ,without me having to even think about it! As I am a spiritual medium you may say ,surely that is to be expected? That flash of inspiration however may also have  inspired me years later to write a book on Nostradamus and his correct prophecy in that year, as nobody else has to date.  I had not written a book on any other subject previously. Yet I think it goes beyond what is normally described as clairvoyance. As with Mario Reading’s and  other spiritual and mystical writers’ cases, I think we are inspired by the subject  itself. When you approach a spiritual or mystic subject sincerely, whether you are a  person who has direct spiritual experiences or not ,you experience a connection or you commune with the subject. You are drawn into it, in a way that transcends whatever mystical or creative  ability that you already have . You experience an inner understanding of what you are reading or studying and then have a motivation to share your experience with others. You sometimes also have flashes of insight, which as I have mentioned, seem to come from nowhere. This is what I believe what Mario Reading experienced when he felt he had to place these two quatrains in 2022. He ignored the previous translations of them, understood them differently  and put them where they appeared to belong. Whether he was aware of that was he was doing or not really does not matter. He performed the correct deed. Nostradamus’s ability was illuminated even further by Mario Reading’s understanding of these Quatrains and brought alive for our understanding of Nostradamus’s Prophecies in the 21st Century. Nostradamus wanted all generations to be aware of a spiritual dimension to human existence and Mario Reading assisted with that. ©Stephen William International Copyright.
