DEALING WITH PERSISTANT SKEPTICISM OF MYSTICISM

 

 
Being  mystic in life  and practice whether you are a mystic or a user of mediums and psychics or a regular attendee of a spiritual church can at times be incredibly challenging. We are in the minority of the population  (hopefully , not forever!) and sometimes “friends”, relatives or workmates etc. choose to question our practice or even ridicule it. As with my article the month before last , here are some answers to common questions that put even the sincerest mystic on the spot! I hope this is of assistance.

 “WHY IF THERE IS A SUPERNATURAL DIMENSION TO EXISTENCE CANNOT EVERYBODY OBSERVE AND EXPERIENCE IT , NOT JUST A  FEW MEDIUMS.”

It is an interesting question in whatever form it is put to you, however it highlights the very heart of mystic practice. Everybody can experience the Supernatural Dimension if they seek it ,especially via a medium or another mystic practitioner and the proof of life after death! The correct identification of  a departed person well known or loved to yourself is one of the greatest experiences or discoveries a person can have.

Once you experience and accept it , it is a life changing encounter .It  changes your perception of existence ,thereafter.

“OKAY, SO WHY ARE WE NOT ALL MEDIUMS?”

Some people are born mediums , but a lot of talented mediums are “developed mediums”. These are people who generally have not had direct spiritual experiences except with the assistance of spiritual mediums. However, they on receiving proof of a greater reality decided to be developed as mediums themselves .

The point, is they sought to become mediums. That is why in many cases they become mediums. If you do not actively seek spiritual contact enlightenment ,you are unlikely to receive it automatically.

WHY IS THERE AN AFTERLIFE? WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT? WHY CAN WE NOT JUST DIE AND THAT IS THE END OF OUR EXISTENCE?

The existence of an afterlife which is proven by contact with departed people known to us, exists for reasons that are out of our control . All different theories are put forward by both mystics and conventional religious people, but nobody knows exactly why it exists. However, many people find comfort in its existence.

Most people like the idea , that their loved ones still exist and are not lost forever. Just because you are not interested in the concept, would you deny it to your passed loved ones? When you yourself get there, you may even appreciate it!
 
“THE MEDIUM YOU SAW, USED TELEPATHY TO READ YOUR MIND . THAT IS  HOW THEY KNEW ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS. THEY DO NOT HAVE PSYCHIC OR SUPERNATURAL ABILITIES “
The above is said in various forms, by people who cannot bear to acknowledge a mystical dimension to existence. Yet, telepathy has never been proven by science to actually exist ! Some scientists admit that it may possibly exist , but by the standard of a reproducible experiment which is needed to confirm scientific acceptance of a concept’s existence, it fails.

However, as people of a spiritual and mystic lifestyle know the information given in a spiritual or psychic reading is completely beyond coincidence or some mysterious “mind reading” ability, as sometimes the information given, is of a long time ago and forgotten until the mystic says it. This very often appears miraculous as not only it is not in the seeker’s mind  at that moment and it also cannot be easily recalled .

Psychic or spiritual contact is not an exact “science” , therefore cannot be” proven” by a reproducible experiment . Yet anyone who has experienced such an experience , knows it is a reality. Love is another intense human experience which cannot be quantified by a scientific equation , but no one surely denies it exists?

When a skeptic tries this kind of “rational” argument against the existence of a non-physical aspect to existence , ask them why they are using one alleged “paranormal” ability to disprove another alleged “paranormal “ ability ? It smacks at desperation on their part, to cling to their stated position on the non-existence of a spiritual dimension to life. Most mystical lifestyle people can quote incidences of themselves either giving or receiving information from “the other side of existence “ which cannot be reasonably guessed at. Be confident in giving such incidents that you have experienced to support your views . If someone accuses you of insincerity of your account of what happened , you may perhaps have to review your association with this particular “skeptic.”
 
“YOU SELF-DELUDED YOURSELF INTO BELEIVING WHATEVER  WAS GIVEN TO YOU HOWEVER VAGUE,AS YOU WERE IN A HIGHLY EMOTIONAL STATE”

Certainly, people seeking contact with a departed partner , relative or friend are often emotionally upset. Also, if they are seeking information on a serious situation in their life and want to find out how it is likely to develop, they are also likely to be highly anxious as well. However, they are  also likely to be incredibly angry if they feel they are being exploited for money or just being  deceived by somebody of no mystical ability at all. In addition to this, they are hardly likely to relate an unsuccessful  meeting with a medium , to somebody they suspect is skeptical!

Relate this information in your own words to the person who is suggesting you are” self-deluding” in some way. If they continue to persist in questions on your experience in a negative way , gently ask them what they would accept as satisfactory “evidence” of your convincing supernatural encounters? If they admit they would not accept any of your “explanations,” point out they are being insincere in their questioning and please refrain on commenting on the subject further, unless they  are prepared to visit a medium/mystic themselves. You are not obliged to conduct a never-ending question and answer session.

This puts the ball back into their court. You are confirming the sincerity of your account and  also demonstrating your confidence that they could have a similar experience with the “proof” they require, if  they are open minded to experience what you have received on a regular basis.
 If they do not wish to visit someone who could help them with this , that is their decision. Yet you have reinforced your position and also  stopped their inane (pointless ?) questioning. You may also gain their respect for your strength of conviction.

These are  likely cynical criticisms from people with mainly no spiritual conviction. The following  are two possible criticisms from people with conventional religious beliefs.
 
“WHY DOES MY RELIGION FORBID DIRECT SPIRITUAL CONTACT IF THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT?”

Most Abrahamic religions have in their texts warnings against direct spiritual contact. Yet the ancient persons who gave these warnings,  in most cases had direct spiritual contact themselves ! This is a paradox , which nobody in conventional religious circles seem to  ever address properly. We do not allow political  dictatorship by living politicians   in the democratic  world , so why do we allow spiritual dictatorship by people who long ago passed away ? Surely this takes away freedom of spiritual thought ,just as a political dictator tries to take away freedom of political comment.

My position,  however, does not criticize the virtuous teaching  contained in such texts, especially their definitions of right and wrong or kindness and compassion . Surely knowledge that such  teachings had  a basis in a spiritually proven reality, in an increasingly materialistic and non-spiritual world ,is a good thing?
 
“WHAT IF I VISITED A MYSTIC PERSON FOR ADVICE AND ONE OF THE “SPIRITS” TOLD ME TO DO SOMETHING BAD? “

Well, in the unlikely event that did happen, you as a good and moral person have total freedom to ignore such advice! That is the quite simple answer.

However, speaking personally (I am confident that most other mediums will agree with me) after over twenty years of being involved in spiritual work, I have never been given or given spiritual messages that have instructed  harm to another human being or even an animal. I have also been told by other mediums about potentially negative situations around me and how to avoid them. I have also been warned about people of bad intent around me and to beware of them .

And guess what ? These predictions turned out to correct. Just as in the Biblical prophetic tradition very often predicted potential problems ahead (Joseph interpreting the Egyptian Pharoah’s bad dreams ,for example ) and how to avoid them. Prediction is a tool that humans have always valued. What it also gives proof of, is a of wider reality to our physical Universe , by defying its observable physical laws.

I am sure you as a confident mystical person can put this into your own words based on your own experiences.
