![]() Holy Days are Good, But Mystic Years can be Better.
By Stephen William. He is a UK based Medium and Healer and Author of “Nostradamus His Prophecy Finally Explained.” Available on Kindle now. The past month and the coming month has Holy Days for all the great Abrahamic religions. The month of Ramadan started on the 10th of March, Good Friday is on the 29th of March, Easter Sunday is on the 31st of March and The Passover (Pesach) starts on the 22nd of April and ends on the 30th of April. Ramadan ends with the festival of Eid al-fitr on the 10th of April. Other great religions around the world have Spring Holy Days as well . Some of these stretch back over 3-4000 years back into history. They mostly seem to have a common theme of renewal, rebirth and hope. As many readers know “Holy Day” is the origin of the modern secular term “Holiday,” which has transformed into a short respite of rest and celebration from normal working in a secular sense as well as religious sense. ![]() Regarding Easter , the name given to the Holy Day of the Resurrection Of Christ in the English-speaking world, this appears to be taken from the name of the Old Anglo-Saxon pre-Christian spring goddess Eostre who had a festival in April, the month when Easter
EOSTRE IN A DEPICTION OF HER FROM THE 1800s . HER SYMBOLIC HARE IS FOLLOWING HER . THIS HARE SYMBOL SEEMS TO BE ALMOST CERTAINLY THE ORIGIN OF THE EASTER BUNNY. normally falls in April. Eostre had a Hare as her symbolic animal and even apparently had the ability to change her herself into one. You can see one in the illustration of Eostre. This is where it is believed that the figure of the Easter Bunny originated from . This animal obviously appears nowhere in the traditional Biblical Easter story. Modern conventional religions , not just the Abrahamic religions, often retain elements of the religion that preceded them ,especially on religious festivals or Holy Days. Perhaps these ancient people could not quite dispense with symbols that had been part of their culture for so long, so they “repurposed “ them. The supernatural hare became a jovial Bunny and not an important religious symbol .As the Easter Bunny is often depicted as a male ,it is totally “repurposed “ from its original role as a goddess. ![]() ![]() TWO MODERN US PRESIDENTS CONFIRMING THE EASTER BUNNY AS A FUN AND JOVIAL FIGURE , NOT A SPIRITUAL ONE.
Holy Days or Holidays obviously put people into a more spiritual frame of mind ,which is a positive thing. It reminds them they have a spiritual side to their existence and takes them away from their pure physical and material concerns. However, there is obviously a limited span on this spiritual contemplation , i.e. the length of the Holy Day/Holiday or even less! So why is this? Conventional organized religion despite its great moral teachings, charitable work and other good works ,does not offer any modern proof of a spiritual dimension to existence . It offers historical “evidence” ,but this is often thousands of years old with obviously no living witnesses . Therefore, it relies purely on “faith.” I do not wish to be overly critical of the concept of faith . In its purest form it is a beautiful manifestation of trust. It means you have you deep trust in a person or belief. Nevertheless, in the physical world we are currently inhabiting, trust , faith and belief are often found to be based on an unrealistic notion of what we have faith in. Partners, family, friends can sometimes let us down. Political parties also can . So too can long established products and companies we use, also business partners or employers and work colleagues. Trust in them is either lessened or lost . Therefore ,faith in their future conduct is weakened. So ,it is quite human to lose faith in a religion that never seems to deliver on its promises and objectives, which also seems not to provide no modern proof of its supernatural origin. In fact, many modern people have lost their religious “faith.” We appear to be no nearer world peace and even though the world has got a bit kinder (only in some places, unfortunately!) ,there is still a lot of human inflicted suffering and misery in the world. Is it because perhaps people not only in the modern world , but in past times also, ignore the old teachings because there is no proof they were spiritually inspired? Perhaps many people have always thought that “spirituality” only matters on “Holy Days” or their religion’s particular “Sabbath”? That could explain why they the rest of the year are carry on being cruel, dishonest and greedy? Various philosophers have over the years identified “Sabbatical believers” who when they leave their place of worship carry on their non-Sabbatical non-spiritual lives the rest of the week. Are these people also “Holy Day believers “ who do not carry their beliefs with them on days which are not “Holy”? However, mysticism has a big advantage over conventional religions and indeed a possible solution to ancient religious texts being seen to be irrelevant to the modern age . With mysticism and direct spiritual contact available every day of the year ,either by yourself if you are a medium or if you are not but a mystic in another direction receiving a spiritual message from a medium acquaintance , the paradox between being internal spiritual beings spending a transient visit in the external material world is explained. You have proof that you yourself are on a spiritual journey and that you will have a continued existence , once this one has finished. But perhaps more importantly , you know the teachings of old ,did come from a tangible spiritual source . Perhaps altered and corrupted by human interference to suit the needs of a ruler or ruling class. Yet at the root of the teachings there is a spiritual source of just behaviour to your fellow human beings and an Afterlife we can look forward to. This is not just faith , but proven knowledge. So, you can enjoy the “Holy Days” of your cultural background even more , because you have a complete Mystical Year and Life. ©Stephen William International Copyright.
