Pushing & Pulling
Spend your life pulling triggers
Is it all worth it
Too many resources
To enter a better life
A world full of children
That needs a little push
To accomplish a lot
Afraid to try something new
Something better
Something beyond the hood
And hanging out with the crew
Fighting a battle, you don’t even understand
Gang banging and taking lives to take a stand
For what?
So your unborn child never knows who you are
For what?
For your mom to visit you from month to month
Put money on the books
Some can be saved some not
But for those who can
Let’s reach out
They’re begging us to
Sometimes we’re just not listening
Wondering if they are in hell
Will they ever make it to heaven
Just in case let’s take a stand
Give them a hand
To become a better woman or a better man.

I’m hanging up my tights
No longer having to fight
A natural at what I do
For us, for you
Writing through my spirit
Recognizing the luxury of having words to express
All in black and white
Amazing messages relevant to all
Spectacular struggles and triumphs
A silver lining, not to overachieve
Creating experimental portraits in the mind
Transmitting to paper
To capture the core and significance of living
Running fast to catch up with every letter
Every sound, every word
To extend what I see
To broaden what I’ve heard
To contribute to what I feel
Loving the sense of belonging
And seeing it All in Black & White

Inside My Mind
Outside of the box
Inside of my mind
No room for error
It closes open doors
For valued greatness.
Pure and sweet as sugar
Serving a purpose
Never heavy
But weighs a ton
Heavy on your heart
Brave conqueror
Trusted source of power
Resting firm
Believing in no other
Peering past the moonlight
Shadows left behind
Nothing in sight for miles
Evasive in its meaning
Enough to get the point across
