Paranormal Perspectives:
One Big Box of 'Paranormal Tricks'? by John Fraser (https://www.6th-books.com) Imagine if Newton after having the Apple falling on his head had then did tests with a Banana and invented concepts of 'Apple Gravity ' and Banana Gravity' separately . Yet this amusingly absurd example is perhaps what 'Paranormal Investigators' sometimes do today. Even those who enthuse about ghosts split then into traditional ghosts and poltergeists. Add to that Demonologists , Witches ('Black' and 'White') , Ufologist's past life regressionists. Extend your compartments to other cultures and you can add shamanism and even those with a belief in vampires.
This book questions if there are really a dozen or more of separate paranormal powers waiting to be discovered or if these are simply different cultural ways of expressing the same as yet not fully understood force. If we accepted that premise might it also be easier to accept what that force might be? It gives examples that the author during his life has researched which show an overlap of phenomena in areas that are normally considered to be quite distinct e.g. Ghosts and UFOs. It also shows that this holistic view of the paranormal is in no way unique . That many of the famous Victorian investigators may well have taken the same approach , as did others in the latter part of the 20th century (prior to Ghost Hunting becoming compartmentalised as an 'official' television 'sport' ) . It is presented as a meditation on the subject rather than an indoctrination of the author’s belief- serious but accessible and very readable and sometimes even amusing. If the theories behind the book are event partially true it may become: A Book that turns how we view the paranormal on its head. Think Zen and the Art of Spending the Night in a Haunted House, a celebration of the dream of finding something undiscovered and different. In his latest book, One Big Box of 'Paranormal Tricks’? From Ghosts to Poltergeists to the Theory of Just One Paranormal Power, John Fraser reflects on his motivations for involvement in paranormal research from an early age, recalling his experiences to date, the people who have influenced him, and the conclusions he's come to. Whilst Fraser refers to events in his life, this book is not a memoir or 'life story' in any conventional sense. It's presented as a meditation on what the paranormal might mean for us in our universal quest to give our lives meaning If the paranormal in general interests you, you might enjoy all the books in the Paranormal Perspectives Series published by 6th Books (https://www.6th-books.com) A Jungian Understanding of Transcendent Experiences - Susan Plunket, October 1st, 2024 One Big Box of 'Paranormal Tricks'? – John Fraser, November 1st, 2024 Where the Spirit Led - Brad Burkholder, June 2024 Hauntings, Attachments and Ghouls - G L Davies, July 2025 Portraits of Alien Encounters Revisited - High Strangeness British UFO Cases - Harry Watson, August 2025 Paranormal Perspectives: One Big Box of 'Paranormal Tricks'? by John Fraser is available from https://www.6th-books.com and from wherever books are sold.
