When you focus on what is right about you, you allow yourself to grow in positive ways.
"Individuals see and feel the most growth in their lives in areas that they are the most successful and have the most natural strengths. As opposed to investing time in "fixing" or improving our weaknesses, we should be doing what we do best more and more" (Bielefeld, 2017). In our society we have made thinking you are worthy to mean you are conceited or think too highly of yourself. This is a myth we need to bust. This is part of why, in our schools, we teach our children what is wrong with them instead of supporting them to uncover and unfold who they are and what they love. This is my purpose to support you and all those around you in truly “getting” your worth and beneficial presence on this planet. The more you can tap into all that is right and wonderful about you, the clearer your pathway becomes. This type of focus allows you to keep your course and not get hung up on what others think. It is as if our school systems were created to take the spark out of our children instead of igniting it. It is in the process of your own awakening that you discover who you really are. From this point forward you can choose your thoughts and actions and create Joy in your life and the lives of others. The more you step into your authentic self, the more possibilities you create. The Law of Polarity shows us that everything has an opposite. We have all heard these old sayings: “what goes up must come down, so above so below, as within so without: What often happens when we engage in processes such as these (transformative practices that improve our lives) is that a positive intent will naturally bring up an “opposite” thought as a point of contrast. To offer an analogy, in the laws of physics it is known that: ‘For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.’ This is also true regarding some of the ways a human mind works. Therefore, when you begin using positive affirmations – making positive statements and setting positive intentions – do not be surprised to find that negative thoughts may form in your mind as well. In other words, it is not uncommon that when you focus on something positive, that your mind may go to a “counter” or opposite thought just as a matter of course. This is natural and can even be helpful, for “contrast” is a part of how we understand things. Simply, BE AWARE of why this happens, acknowledge the PURPOSE OF CONTRAST, and always keep COMING BACK to the positive affirmation! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy teaches us that the more you can pay attention to your thinking and thoughts the easier it is to change any type of habit. Honestly, that is what as well and negative thinking is; a bad habit we have passed down over generations. The more we can pay attention to what we are thinking and “HOW” we are thinking, the easier it is to change. The new studies in neuroscience and brain plasticity are showing us that even as we age, our brain continues to grow. Knowing this, we now have every reason to continue to transform and develop ourselves in positive ways. Allow yourself to shine brightly it enhances your self-esteem and self-worth while encouraging and inspiring others to do the same. So how do you focus on what is right and wonderful about you and with you? You begin by becoming present to your presence. Back to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for a moment, this is something many of the great transformational leaders of our time use to support the growth in their communities. They teach them how to change. Like Jack Canfield, he teaches us his tricks to change his own thinking. He uses a rubber band around his wrist. In my other book Discover The Gift, Jack goes into detail about how he utilizes different techniques to bring awareness to his thinking and present space. Michael Beckwith taught me Cancel-Cancel and to wipe away negative thoughts from my body. I so agree with him and I add that by adding movement and physicality to your behaviors brings them out of the mind and into a physical energetic existence, this is manifestation in action. This is what he taught during a Sunday service at the Agape International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles, Ca. He said, “Whenever you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, wipe them off your sleeve.” Focus on and use the work of CBT, as you become more present to your presence you begin to see your thoughts as thoughts, and you begin to notice them more and more. This is when choice comes in, and we will discuss this in more depth and detail later on. You actually get to choose what you focus on. Once you choose this, your brain and body and the energy of the universe conspire to create exactly what you are focusing on. This is why it is so IMPORTANT to focus on what is right and wonderful about you.
