![]() Have you ever lifted up something in the garden? Perhaps a heavy stone or flowerpot and noticed all the wildlife beneath and around , woodlice, worms, spiders and ants going about their business…
Life at times can feel as if we are living under a heavy burden, like that stone or flowerpot. It can seem a dark place with rare chinks of light. At such times we can relate to the woodlouse, with its coat of protective armour and rolling into a ball when threatened ! Likewise the worm burrowing deep into the soil, the spider scuttling into a tiny crevice to hide itself away and the ant disappearing in a flash down the many corridors that lead to the safety of the communal nest. These insects and bugs can teach us a great deal though. The humble ant for example knows everything about oneness . Unlike ourselves, they do not feel themselves separate or alone . They work together as one unit, having a “knowing” of the part that they play. Stopping to help one another in need and gathering together to protect the community or assist another in their task. The spider teaches us patience, balance and interconnection. Using the moving air to carry its silken threads ,it creates wonderous, symmetrical and harmonious patterns, creating magic with weaving together the everyday and the extraordinary . Earthworms ensure the ground is healthy and are a reminder to us all to keep ourselves grounded and connected with Mother Earth. Last but not least, the humble woodlouse plays an important role in taking what has died and is rotting away and making it useful again. It is therefore a symbol of life’s cycle of birth, death and rebirth. If we could stop… just for a moment and look inwards…to lift up the heavy stone and look for a deeper meaning than what we are seeing , than we see on the surface and experiencing. To know we are not separate and we have an important part to play. To remain grounded, balanced and connected with Mother Earth and no matter what is happening around us to trust everything has a beginning, an end and a rebirth. We just need to keep spinning our wonderous, symmetrical and harmonious patterns, creating magic with weaving together the everyday and the extraordinary. https://www.carolynfinchtherapies.co.uk |
