From the 15-book series, The Archangel Chronicles. On this stop of their quest, Ginger learns more about Star Children.) Chapter 3, Part 1 Karasjok, Norway Earth/June Ginger blinked twice at the sudden change of scenery, rubbed her eyes, and then gasped. It appeared that she and Barachiel had landed in a field of cows and calves, all contentedly grazing. “Look, Barachiel! Look at all these beautiful babies! I used to love to play with our little ones at home.” Without pausing a beat, Ginger continued, enthused with her human memories. “We also had goats grazing in our cow pastures, and there’s nothing as adorable as kids – baby goats – but you may not know that since you probably haven’t spent that much time in cow pastures or being around goats, seeing you’re an archangel and all. Wouldn’t want that sparkly gown to get mussed.” Ginger paused long enough to wink at Barachiel. “Oh, and keep an eye out for cow patties!” Ginger abruptly stopped, and her cheeks pinkened. “I’m oversharing again. Sorry. I’ll stop babbling. You know how I can get when I get excited…” Her voice dropped, hoping she had not offended her angel. Barachiel smiled. “You cannot possibly overshare, Ginger, and you are certainly not babbling or offending me! And, thank you for the advice about these cow patties! A little heads up is always appreciated.” Suddenly, Barachiel’s gown transformed to work jeans, a denim shirt, and warm jacket. Her sneakers were replaced with sturdy farm work boots. Her hair was pulled back, and held with a simple clip. She turned so that Ginger could appreciate her transformation. Ginger grinned, and instantly, she, too, was dressed for the pasture with the same clothing choices, her braids and bangs tucked neatly under a ball cap. She zipped her jacket, realizing that even though it appeared to be late spring by the size of the calves, it was chilly. How could that be? She thought. I thought I was dead. Dead people don’t feel cold. In answer to her thoughts, Barachiel smiled and said, “I am providing you with the human experience for the time we are working on this case. Feeling the chill in the air qualifies as the human experience.” She grinned. “So does stepping into fresh cow patties, so you had best keep an eye out, as well!” Ginger grinned, nodded, and looked around, trying to gauge her surroundings. The cow pasture seemed much larger than her family’s, but she could see impressive barn-like structures, which she assumed were the heart of a dairy farm. In the adjacent field, she spotted her beloved goats: adorable kids romping joyfully, under the eyes of their grazing mothers. Ginger sighed with pleasure, hoping that at some point, she could join in their fun. She drew her gaze to Barachiel, who only smiled and nodded. Part of the human experience! Turning once more, Ginger spotted a nearby woods, which looked familiar and inviting. Finally, she turned back to the archangel, delighted with all she could see. “This looks huge!” she finally exclaimed. “Much bigger than our farm. Where are we? Something tells me that we’re not in Iowa!” “Ginger, we are in the northern-most point in Norway, at the top of the Arctic Circle, in the village of Karasjok [kah-RAH-shock].” Instantly, a hologram of a world globe appeared, and Barachiel pointed out their location. Ginger looked at the angel with wide eyes. “Why are we here?” she asked, as the hologram dissolved. “So you can meet a friend of mine.” Barachiel gazed around the field, spotted someone, smiled, and waved. A young man walking across the field toward them returned the wave. As he strode forward, he paused occasionally to greet the cows and calves. Several rubbed up against him, much to Ginger’s delight. The close bond between animal and human was obvious. As he drew closer, Ginger watched, mesmerized. He appeared to be a bit older than Ginger, and physically fit for farm life, but not as tall as he had first seemed. Up close, Ginger realized that he was only a couple inches taller than her 5’7”. The teenager had a distinctly Nordic appearance: fair skin, blue eyes, and dark blonde, ear-length hair, parted on the side, which seemed to enjoy a life of its own. This further endeared him to Ginger, who had had the same issue in her last lifetime. As he walked briskly, he unconsciously pushed the hair out of his eyes. He wore similar clothing to Ginger and Barachiel – sturdy pants, a green flannel shirt under a warm jacket, and work boots. He smiled broadly and walked into the angel’s embrace, and then held her at arms’ length. “Velsignelser over deg [ven-sing-nee-sa-oveh-die], Barachiel. Welcome back! It’s good to see you again!” “Blessings to you, as well, dear friend!” Barachiel turned to Ginger, who was wide-eyed with rapt attention. “Elias [inn-EE-us], I would like you to meet Ginger, a new friend of mine. Ginger, this is Elias. We have worked together several times over his present lifetime, as well as his previous lifetimes!” The angel saw Ginger raise an eyebrow, so continued. “All souls having the human experience are living concurrent lifetimes.” “Concurrent?” Barachiel nodded. “Perceived present, past and future lifetimes are being lived at the same time.” When she saw Ginger’s confusion deepen, she continued. “Think of a music collection, whether it be an LP, CD or file. All the music is contained within one unit. In order to access a different song, you merely move to a different track in the unit. Like a music collection, you have access to all your other soul-chosen lifetimes, although it may take some practice in understanding how to do just that. Give it some thought, Ginger. You are not alone in your confusion, for it’s challenging for the human mind to wrap itself around this particular concept.” Ginger nodded, and turned her attention back to Elias, who smiled at her. “Velsignelser over deg, Ginger!” “Hello, Elias, blessings to you, as well. It’s nice …” The young girl was interrupted when Elias suddenly engulfed her in a hug, as well. She found she could only mumble into his jacket. “… to meet you. Oh, my. I guess we’re hugging now.” Suddenly, a wave of Unconditional Love filled her, and she relaxed within his embrace. Finally, they pulled apart, and Ginger understood that this friend of Barchiel was quite definitely unlike any of the boys she had known in Iowa. “What brings you here, Barachiel? Not that I’m always glad to see you, but you usually have a little something up your sleeve each time. Might you have adventure in mind today?” Barachiel chuckled. “Ginger has only recently realized that she is a Star Child – an Indigo. I wanted her to meet other Star Children, and you were my first thought. I was hoping you might have time to show us around this beautiful area and chat with my young friend.” “I would be delighted to do that. I had just come from school when I heard your call, so I dropped my bag of books at the house, and came to find you.” Ginger looked startled and held up two fingers. “First, I didn’t hear you call him, and second, why is it that Elias can understand our English?” She turned to the boy. “You speak English as if you had been born in Iowa, as well!” The archangel smiled and put up two of her own fingers. “First, Elias heard me in his mind, not his human ears, Ginger. With a little practice and patience, you will be able to do that, as well, but for now, you still carry your last lifetime, which is holding you back. It will come. And two, like everything else in the Universe, spoken language is just an illusion. While we’re working, there are no language barriers, which is the eventual hope for humanity, but that subject is definitely for another time!” Ginger grinned. “This just keeps getting better and better!” She turned to Elias. “Where are we heading first?” Elias chuckled. “First, let me tell you a little about my home before we go traipsing off to visit our reindeer herd.” “Reindeer?” Ginger exclaimed and clapped her hands together. “Like Santa’s reindeer? Are we bringing them carrots, too? I’d love to feed them carrots!” Elias and Barachiel exchanged amused glances. “First of all, Ms. Patience, I hate to crush a sacred Santa tradition, but reindeer don’t actually eat carrots. Fact is, they have a specific dental structure that helps them graze on lichen, mosses, herbs, ferns, and grasses. Carrots would be too hard for them to eat.” Elias reached into his large jacket pocket and pulled out some greens. “But, they love these grasses! I’ll let you feed them when we visit.” Elias shoved the greens back into his pocket. “Let’s start with a geography lesson. “Norway is one of several countries at the top of the world, so to speak, and, like the others, it is known as The Land of the Midnight Sun. During the summer months in certain regions of northern Norway, specifically from late May to late July, the sun remains visible for 24 hours a day. Where we are located – Karasjok [ka-rah-shock] – that phenomenon generally lasts for those two months. It’s all dependent on an area’s latitude.” Ginger’s brow furrowed in concentration. “Science class seems a long time ago. Why does this happen?” Elias chuckled. “It all has to do with the Earth’s axis. The tilt of the Earth causes the North Pole to lean towards the sun during our summer, resulting in continuous daylight.” Ginger thought a moment and nodded. “Sounds vaguely familiar. Wait!” she suddenly blurted. “Don’t you guys also have the Northern Lights?” She sighed. “I always thought they were magical.” Elias laughed. “The Aurora Borealis. Yep, that’s us, but so do the rest of the Scandinavian countries, as well as Iceland, Canada, and Russia. Again, this phenomena occurs because of our latitude – that whole Arctic Circle thing again.” Elias paused. “Tell me, would you like to see the Aurora Borealis?” Ginger clasped her hands together. “Oh, I would love to see it!” She turned to Barachiel. “Maybe we can come back some time during the winter months?” Barachiel smiled. “I think we can do better than that, Ginger.” The archangel blinked, and the day slowly went from bright sunshine to velvet darkness. Ginger gasped. The blackness was total, and when Ginger looked heavenward, she could see what looked like millions of twinkling stars. Billions. As her eyes became adjusted to the light change, she was able to make out falling stars, and again clapped her hands in delight. “Elias, where are the lights, although I have to say that the heavens are spectacular just like this!” “Just wait a moment,” he replied. “They’ll be here.” Suddenly, it seemed that Barachiel had flipped another sort of switch because the sky was suddenly ablaze with color. For a moment, Ginger was too stunned to talk; her mouth hung open. After a few minutes, the colors started to fade, as did the stars, and the sky began to brighten until it was just as it had been. “Wow!” whispered Ginger. “That was awesome! Thank you for another human experience!” “Speaking of the human experience, Ginger, would you like to visit that reindeer herd now?” Elias glanced at Barachiel, who nodded. “Oh, yes!” the young girl replied. She looked around and found none to be seen. “Are we going by angel power?” “Let’s stretch our legs for a bit, and we’ll find them not far from here in their summer pasture. The walk will give us time to talk about Star Children, for I am one, as well.” When Ginger and Barachiel nodded, Elias continued. “Barachiel tells me that I am one of many, many Crystal Children around the world, known as the second round of Star Children to be born between the 1980’s and 2000’s.” Elias paused in thought for a moment. “Remember, these dates are fluid, and one emergence leads into the next, so it may seem weird that although you were born in 1992, near the end of the Indigo emergence, I was born in 1990, at the beginning of Crystal Children emergence.” Ginger grinned. “So, I get that I am 15 and an Indigo, and you are 17 and a Crystal, but if you don’t mind me asking, what makes you a Crystal Child?” Elias chuckled. “I don’t mind any of your questions, Ginger. Continue to ask, for no quest can be completed without quest-ioning.” Ginger’s eyes grew wide, and gazed at Barachiel. “We’re on a quest? I’m on a quest?” Barachiel smiled. “Of course, dear Ginger. You are on a journey to learn who you really are – besides the illusion you have accepted as your lifetime, but we’ll talk more about that later.” Elias smiled. “One last thought on the emergence of Star Children, Ginger. It is a soul’s choice to be born into one of these categories, so let’s say someone born in the 1970’s can be a Crystal, just as easily as I am. It’s not so much the year they were born, as the sacred tasks they have chosen to complete.” Ginger nodded and asked. “So, Elias, what exactly makes you a Crystal?” “Crystal Children are intensely sensitive – physically, emotionally and spiritually. My physical body is sensitive to changes in the environment, with asthma often a result. With all of the environmental changes taking place these days, this physical sensitivity can be a challenge for me. Emotionally, it is also a challenge, for I am a sensitive and an empath, and take on the emotions of those around me.” Ginger’s face lit up. “Barachiel tells me that I, too, had those qualities. I just didn’t realize it during my lifetime.” She paused. “I kind of wish I had known. I think it would have made a big difference in my life. Made it a bit easier to navigate.” Elias nodded. “Exactly, but remember, that lifetime was no glitch. Your soul had chosen to experience that life as an Indigo, but without the love and support to develop your gifts. For some reason, known only to your soul, doing so would provide valuable lessons, which when complete, would raise your own Consciousness, as well as those around you. I have been blessed to have that support in my life with my grandmother, family, and friends, as well as Barachiel. As a result, I have chosen to surround myself with positive people and situations, rather than take on the emotions of negative people and situations. Such situations can easily traumatize Crystals, who often respond by withdrawing in order to protect themselves from the emotional slings and arrows.” Elias paused. “But, you did that in your own way, Ginger. You knew being around negativity was toxic, so you became a loner, so in a way, you knew, but you didn’t know you knew!” When Ginger nodded, Elias continued. “Crystals feel connected to all life, so are natural huggers, as you found out earlier! I don’t feel the personal boundaries that many others feel. I see the Big Picture – the macrocosm – instead of focusing on the microcosm. We’re all connected – people, rocks, flowers, reindeer – we’re all part of the Universal Grid, even though much of humanity has a hard time understanding and embracing that.” “I felt that connection, too, but like you, it was easier to feel it when I was in nature away from people.” Ginger paused. “I wasn’t a big fan of school for that reason, besides the fact that I couldn’t understand the purpose behind most of it.” Elias chuckled. “Unlike your experience, I like school, but then again, I have a tremendous support system. I am blessed for many reasons, but I am especially grateful that we all look out for each other, regardless of who might be a Star Child.” “As for school, I believe that we both prefer teaching ourselves what we believe is important, but on the whole, I enjoy the human experience known as high school!” Ginger was thoughtful for a long moment. “If this isn’t nosy, may I ask if you’re aware of the sacred task that your soul has chosen?” Elias nodded. “All of humanity shares the same task: to honor our connection with all living beings and things, as well as All That Is – Source, God, The Creator – the name doesn’t matter, but the sacred task does. We are here to nurture each other, as well as the Earth, Gaia [GUY-uh], herself, and to walk together as One.” “Earlier, you asked about vibrations. The entire Universe vibrates. In a nutshell, the current world and most of its inhabitants are vibrating on a 3rd or 4th dimensional level. A major task for Star Children is to help humanity raise the vibrational level to the 5th Dimension. Our task is to help guide humanity as One toward a higher state of consciousness. And finally, Star Children are to help spearhead those efforts, to gently and lovingly guide humanity toward the heavens, where our family awaits us with open arms.” “Heavens?” asked Ginger. “Wait. Like angels? Or are you talking about aliens?” Elias smiled. “All living things include physical and nonphysical beings, so yes, the entire Universe is connected as One – regardless of our states of beingness, and our task is to help others understand and embrace that in order to raise Consciousness.” “No disrespect, Elias, but that sounds pretty impossible to me, given how messed up our world is, let alone all those countless beings in the Universe. How can that be done?” “None taken, Ginger. All Star Children are here to bring about that change, and it can be done with just one thing: Unconditional Love, which is a Universal force of selfless, all-encompassing love that exists beyond all judgements, expectations, and conditions. It is the Essence of the Divine.” Elias paused. “It may be easier for you to understand if you compare the raising of our vibrations – consciousness – to a teeter totter. When seemingly balanced, the teeter totter doesn’t move, but when there is a change on one side, it tilts into a different reality. Will this be challenging for all of humanity to accept and welcome? Perhaps, but if enough can do so, the teeter totter can tilt into that new world of higher vibrations – of raised Consciousness – one of Unconditional Love.” (Excerpt from Barachiel from The Archangel Chronicles © Marty Boyle 2025.
