![]() Su Yun To Years Past
To time, to habits, To the body’s sensitivity to this day— Breaking the rule, I wake at dawn, To hold a judgment. Entrust flowers and leaves to time, Branches and knots to myself; Assign curves to lips and eyes, Uprightness to the torso. Ragged cuts and brocade each take half, A touch of purity to years past— To the summer and spring alone with mother, In the womb, once upon a time; To this poem, as night falls tonight. True Autumn Excessive rain— Washes down my pure yellow silk curtain, As true autumn bares its pupils. A pair of cold pools: Upstream flows green and yellow, Downstream drifts sparse and loose. Following a fallen leaf, It carries me to utter death, For a permanent farewell. Clasping a patch of green moss, It revives me to rebirth, Drifting with the current to eternity. From then on, I let go of The more than ten Faked Autumns. Maple As I Pace back and forth, Gauging the weight Of two tree shadows. A fallen leaf— Blows out my candle For me. Greatness I walked for you To the back of the famous landmark, Leaving a fingerprint On the crumpled holly leaves. I walked for you To the last brick outside the city walls, Sticking a wheat stalk On a stranger’s ridge. Years later, A biography Linked a branch of my footprints— It appeared on the front of the monument. Loop Bake a patch of moss with roof tiles, Simmer a wisp of gloom in brick walls, Stew needles and thread in an iron box, Serve scrolls and books on a wooden table. I have a pile of crumpled time, And flames stored in the stove— A spoon on the dial Stirs the days in a loop. Once again, I must drop a paper ball into the stove, —— Wrapping paper with vertical grains, A longing that stretches horizontally.
