![]() Chapter 10
What Joan and Roger Have Taught Us Just what have Joan and Roger taught us? Well, I hardly know where to begin, it’s all so momentous, everything they have shown us. Well, if we start at the beginning, Roger and Joan have appeared to us on camera as spirits in the afterlife. Until Joan started giving us all her signs after she died, we didn’t know for certain if there was an afterlife at all. So, after all the funerals we went to over the years of family and friends, we didn’t know whether life just finished abruptly and beyond that point a person ceased to exist. Joan was the first person to prove to us that she did still exist after she had died. Joan’s proof was an amazing start to this whole chain of events – we knew from her signs that there really was an afterlife, but total-sceptic Roger was still adamant there wasn’t and wouldn’t even talk about Joan’s signs with us. It took Roger to die himself before he would realise that he had been so wrong – there genuinely was life after death. Roger then carried on doing what Joan had initiated – he eagerly showed us his spirit on camera. We now knew with absolute certainty that there was life after death, because we could see with our own eyes, spirits on camera. Of course, all the sceptics will say the camera isn’t really seeing spirits at all, it is merely an electronic device being fooled into thinking there’s a spirit there, when in reality it is just the electronics misbehaving, tricking itself into seeing something that isn’t really there at all. How could we possibly prove that the sceptics were wrong, that these were real spirits on camera? Well, this is where my mission to get scientific validation of these spirits comes in. I have been desperate from the very start of this investigation to get respected scientists to confirm that what the camera was showing was indeed a real spirit. This is where the Society for Psychical Research comes into the story. After pressing the Society, which is the oldest organisation in the world that was set up with the specific aim of proving life after death, finally I was able to get one of their paranormal investigators to look into the case of Roger.
Luckily for me, even though the Society’s long-time member, the Chairman of the Spontaneous Cases Committee, didn’t seem overly enthusiastic about what Roger was showing us on camera, Committee member Aaron Lomas must have sensed there was something intriguing about Roger’s case, and was inspired to investigate. When he came to our house and I showed him what I thought was Roger on camera, he wasn’t totally convinced – being a trained sceptic, he couldn’t be sure if the so-called spirits on camera, the green stick figures, were genuine spiritual energy, or whether or not they were just the camera being confused by what was in shot. Even though Roger was talking through the Ovilus, using some very appropriate and relevant words sometimes, this wasn’t enough to convince Aaron, but he did seem to be open to persuasion – if Roger could just provide further, better proof. About a year later I went down to meet him at Northampton University where he was studying for his PhD in parapsychology, where we could do some more in-depth tests with the SLS camera. This was a perfect place to do such tests, as we were able to use a plain and almost featureless room that wouldn’t confuse the camera. We did get 100% proof on camera that the green stick figure was indeed a spirit. There was no way the camera was being tricked by what it was looking at, as it was viewing a totally plain and featureless white wall, and there, showing up in front of the wall, was the green stick figure that was Roger’s spirit. Aaron was happy that we had done everything necessary to prove this was a real spirit – the camera wasn’t being confused by the features in the room. This was the complete and totally unambiguous proof I had been so desperate to get – confirmation from a respected and sceptical scientist – this was definitely a spirit that the SLS camera was detecting! I knew this was Roger on camera, even though he wasn’t able to say anything totally unambiguous on the Ovilus to announce to the world that it was him, but that didn’t matter. He kept showing on camera for over 4 minutes against the plain and featureless white wall next to Aaron. One important thing to bear in mind with the green stick figure on the SLS camera, is that the camera’s interpretation of the spirit’s poise and deportment shouldn’t be taken too literally. What looks like Roger’s limbs, the position of them and any apparent movement of them, probably isn’t actual and accurate – spirits apparently don’t have limbs – so the camera is just struggling to interpret what it is sensing, but it genuinely is sensing something. The one million infrared dots are being displaced by the spirit’s energy field, and the camera knows for certain something is there, so it places a stick figure where it thinks this energy actually is.
Imagine the SLS camera image as being like an Air Traffic Control radar screen, which we’ve all seen on TV, where the radar is detecting the aircraft, so it places a symbol on the computer screen for the air traffic controller to see exactly where the plane is, in order to be able to keep track of it. We don’t see a photographic image of the actual plane detected, that’s not necessary, but we do see where that plane is. Well, this is what the SLS camera is doing. It’s not a lifelike representation of a spirit’s shape and limb position, but it is a representation of the approximate size of the spirit’s energy field, the amorphous fuzzy shaped energy field that comprises it. We now have the most eminent organisation in the world which looks into possible proof of life after death, confirming that we had got 100% genuine proof on camera of life after death. There was nothing more Roger needed to do – he had done it. He had proved to us and to the world that he really is there showing up on camera, after his physical body had died. He, of all people, the person who didn’t believe there was anything after we die, was there showing us he is still alive, showing us he had been wrong – we really do live on after we die. How do we know that this spirit was Roger, and not just a random spirit off the street? Well, even if it was a random spirit who happened to be passing while we were filming with the camera, that is still 100% proof of a real spirit on camera, but I knew it was Roger. Several mediums have confirmed that this is Roger. Liz Murphy, in particular, has come through with some very accurate messages from both Joan and Roger while we were seeing spirits on camera. For her to be coming out with such accurate messages, especially the accurate messages from Joan while her spirit is showing up on camera, that essentially proves that the spirit we are seeing on camera is the spirit giving the messages.
Over the past couple of years, I have become very slightly psychically aware, as apparently anyone can – it’s just a matter of practice, and of trusting your instincts. From the demeanour of the spirits on camera, I can tell it’s Roger and Joan, while their messages are being relayed to us by a medium. Roger has a pattern of behaviour that is uniquely him – he tends to appear in particular places in the room, and normally looks bigger, whereas Joan appears in other locations, normally, and looks a bit smaller. Also, at the start of this SLS camera adventure, Joan hardly ever showed, but Roger would show a lot. This is exactly how their personalities are, how they were when physical people on Earth as we knew them – Joan would not want to do this, she would get bored and go away to another room, whereas Roger would be so keen to try it out, he would be persistent and keep trying. After some time getting used to being a spirit, Joan is now showing up a lot more often. I’m certain she now appreciates that an excellent medium can relay her messages to us, so she is now more than happy to stick around while we all try. This proof on camera of life after death has initiated a huge quest by me to find out everything I can, in books and TV programmes, to see what insight I can glean into the whole afterlife. I was recommended a book that I had never heard of, Journey of Souls, by Michael Newton. Michael Newton is a hypnotherapist, and over many years under hypnosis, dozens of his patients have all relayed how they had had previous lives prior to their current physical life on Earth. He has documented all the evidence from all his patients over many, many sessions, and they all have essentially the same story of what happens when we die and become a spirit, then are reborn as a new human on Earth. While someone is under hypnosis they cannot lie, but they can access their very deep-seated memories, which are normally inaccessible whilst conscious. Past life memories are very deep-seated and normally inaccessible in our day- to-day existence. This very compelling evidence confirms that there is reincarnation, that we live our life on Earth, we die and our spirit goes into the afterlife, then some years later our spirit is reborn into a newborn physical person on Earth.
Just a few weeks ago before I finished writing this book (with Roger’s help and direction, of course), I read an amazing book by a great author. Our Eternal Existence, by David Gaggin, is the most impressive book I have read in the last few years relating to the subject of life after death. David Gaggin is an engineer/ scientist, who for many years worked for The Boeing Company, the aircraft manufacturer. He was in charge of cockpit design, avionics and flight systems. This was in the days when Boeing made the most reliable and dependable aircraft. After leaving Boeing, David worked for NASA amongst other organisations and then set up his own microwave defence company which employed 3500 people at the time of his retirement. Throughout his life David had wondered what happens when we die, and he spent a lifetime researching and reading up everything available, from every source possible – from ancient writings through to contemporary books like Michael Newton’s Journey of Souls. From all of this vast research, he was able to filter the information to get to the truth of what the afterlife is all about – in fact, what everything is all about, including our universe and all other universes. He describes his book as a metaphysical perspective of reality. After reading this book it became apparent that there are many books written by many authors, who all have this same story – the same version of what happens when we die and get reborn. All these books by all these experts in their field corroborate the concept of reincarnation. The medium Ali Mather proved to my complete satisfaction that our son, Patrick, had indeed had a past life which he was no longer aware of, but as a small child he used to talk about a lot. He had been a sailor on a sailing boat. Ali Mather’s Past Life Regression therapy on Patrick had him confirming this to be the case. It is very widely accepted that young children can remember their previous past life, but as they get a bit older, maybe six or seven years of age, these memories disappear, and the child can no longer recall that past life. The fact that David Gaggin is a totally down-to-earth person from a conventional Western background, striving for answers to his own questions, gives his book all the more credibility. As such an impressive individual who has proven over a lifetime to be such a discriminating judge of the reliability of the information he is researching, then his conclusions are surely totally dependable. What he says, I think, can be relied upon to be the most accurate explanation possible, for everything.
