From the 15-book series, The Archangel Chronicles. On this stop, Ginger & Barachiel meet with Claire) Chapter 7, Part 1 Forest Glade England Ginger was still laughing about besting Malachite with their pranking competition, as she and Barachiel landed at their next stop. She wiped the tears from her face, and worked to compose herself. Barachiel watched it all with a smile, pleased with the obvious connection between girl and dragon. Finally, Ginger took a deep breath and gazed around at her new surroundings. Her eyes grew wide, and her jaw dropped. She and her favorite archangel had apparently been majicked into a beautiful glade in the middle of what seemed to be an old growth forest. The glade was small, sun-drenched and filled with tiny, exquisite woodland flowers. When Ginger lifted an eyebrow to the archangel, who nodded, she walked to a tiny, blue bloom and gently touched it, sending it Love and Compassion. The bluebell seemed to stretch up to her hand, delighting Ginger. Curious, she moved to a violet, did the same thing with the same result. She smiled as she recognized a precious trillium from spending so much time in her own Iowan woods. The flower leaned closer to her, as well. Delicate pink lady slippers next caught her attention, and she moved toward them. She was so enamored with the glade’s gifts, she impulsively threw out her arms and spun around, blasting Love and Compassion everywhere. When at last she stopped, she gazed around the glade. To her further delight, all of the flora seemed more vibrantly alive – including the the ancient-looking trees, as well as the saplings, who were waiting patiently to take the place of those mighty trees which would eventually fall. Ginger lifted her face to the sky, taking in not only the the tall, leafy canopy of the various types of trees, but the songbirds, who made themselves known with their beautiful, lilting voices. As she watched and listened spellbound, the birdsong began to coalesce into intricate harmonies, as if creating a performance just for her. The harmonies filled her mind, body and soul with Love and Compassion, and she gently closed her eyes to revel in it. Suddenly, she heard gentle buzzing, and her eyes snapped open. Honey bees were busily gathering pollen from the blooms. As she watched in silence, several chipmunks darted through the glade, almost as if they were playing a lively game of tag, which, in fact, they were. Ginger’s breath caught as she watched a couple of brilliant dragonflies, contentedly perched on branches, soaking up the sunshine. As Ginger took in the sights and sounds of the life-teeming glade, she caught just a glimpse of something darting through the forest. She was further delighted to see the white tail of what appeared to be a young deer as it moved deeper into the wood, but worried that her spinning had spooked him. And, even though he had swiftly exited, Ginger reached out to him with Love and Compassion, hoping it would allow the creature to know that she was friend, not foe. Ginger had been so entranced with her surroundings that momentarily, she had forgotten that Barachiel was here, as well. She finally turned to the archangel and smiled. “This brings back such wonderful memories from my last lifetime. Thank you so much for bringing me here.” Again, she gaze around her. “Where are we?” “The English countryside, but the name of the country does not matter as much as what you will learn while we are here.” Ginger nodded. “I’m just grateful for this opportunity. Thank you.” She paused. “Are we here for a specific purpose or just to soak in the wood’s beauty and give me a taste of home?” Barachiel smiled. “This old-growth forest, like all old-growth forests, holds a high sacred vibration, which ancient Chinese philosophers called Chi [chee] and what Elias and Malachite described as the God Essence. Remember?” Ginger nodded. “I can actually feel it all around me and swirling within me. Is this particular forest special and that’s why I feel it? It’s amazing!” “The Universe is held together by this special Essence, and all sentient beings contain Chi. It is part of the human DNA, although your scientists have yet to prove it. You are correct. It is easier to feel it here because of this sacred old-growth forest.” “What makes it sacred?” “Old-growth forests are pristine realms of your world that not only hold and safeguard a vast diversity of flora and fauna, but are essentially living cathedrals of deep spiritual peace and harmony. Many humans feel the connection to All That Is in such a place, but you do not need to have chosen to be a Star Child in order to do so. If a human stands quietly and opens his or her heart anywhere, it is easier to feel that Universal connection. We will talk more about this at another time, but I am pleased that you can feel it.” Ginger thought a long moment and then nodded. Suddenly, she cocked her head, listening carefully. “Do you hear that, Barachiel? It sounds like someone singing.” The archangel smiled. “That beautiful voice belongs to another friend of mine. Would you like to meet her?” Ginger nodded, as beloved memories of Elias, Áhkku, the Goddess Ixchel, and Malachite flooded her mind. “I would love to meet another friend of yours!” Barachiel and Ginger stood in silence as the lilting melody grew louder, and harmonized with the birdsong. Finally, a human girl and a large golden retriever walked out of the trees into the glade. When she spied her visitors, her beautiful face seemed to light up from within, and a wide smile greeted them. The dog’s tail began to wag, but he remained next to the girl, causing Ginger to giggle to herself. That dog is obviously better trained than Sadie! Tearing her eyes from the dog, Ginger studied the girl. She seemed to be about her age, although a couple inches shorter in height. Her skin was a beautiful, creamy brown, and her startling crystal blue eyes twinkled. She wore her coarse dark brown hair pulled up into a casual top knot. The girl was dressed for a day in the woods: a cream t-shirt, an olive green pair of cargo shorts, and short, sturdy hiking boots. She sported a small olive green backpack, which seemed to have seen better days, as well as what looked like an old camera strapped around her neck. With an athletic build and confidence, the girl walked gracefully toward them. “Hello, Barachiel!” she said as she engulfed the angel in a hug. “It’s so good to see you again!” Barachiel returned the hug and then held the girl at arms’ length. “You’ve grown up, Claire! It seems just yesterday that you were only a little girl, and now look at you! You are so lovely!” Claire giggled. “Thanks, Barachiel. It’s been a bit since we’ve last seen each other, but I think I’m about done growing, although I wish I were just a bit taller so I can more easily climb my beloved trees!” Ginger grinned. She sounds like me, spending time with my own beloved trees! I can just tell that we’ll have lots in common.” The archangel leaned down to the golden, who had sat obediently at his mistress’s feet, tail still wagging. Barachiel gave him a good scratch behind his ears, as she exclaimed what a beautiful boy he was. As he gazed in rapture at the angel, he appeared to grin, causing giggles from Ginger. Barachiel smiled at her, and said, “Ginger, I’d like you to meet Claire. Claire, this is Ginger! If you and Brody have the time, Claire, we would love to chat.” Without a word, Claire smiled and walked over to Ginger and hugged her tightly. A sudden thought was downloaded into Ginger’s mind: We do have lots in common! Startled, Ginger’s eyes widened, but she stayed mum, unsure of what was going on. Looking down at her own body, she realized that she still wearing jeans, and decided that it was time for a more comfortable change of outfit for an adventure in the woods. Instantly, she made her transformation into a soft blue tee, navy cargo shorts and short, sturdy boots. Claire grinned. “Nice, Ginger! Much better for the woods! Welcome!” “Thank you,” Ginger said. “May I pet this gorgeous creature?” “Sure! Brody, you can go say hello to our new friend.” Ginger was amazed that the dog seemed to understand exactly what he had been told, for he walked over to her and sat, tail wagging furiously. Touched and filled with memories of her own precious dog, Ginger knelt down and first offered her hand, which Brody politely sniffed. Once the introduction was made, the large golden gently pushed himself into Ginger, knocking her over. “Brody!” Claire scolded. “That’s no way to meet our new friend – mauling her like that! Off!” Ginger laughed, thrilled to be tussling with the dog, who had pointedly ignored Claire’s command. They played for a moment or two before the dog returned to Claire’s side, panting and grinning. “I love him!” Ginger cried. “I have so missed my Sadie. Brody was just what I needed!” She looked into the dog’s eyes and for just a heartbeat, saw Sadie in them. “Thank you, Brody!” Claire smiled at Ginger. “Have you time to talk today?” Ginger glanced at Barachiel, who merely smiled and nodded. “I now understand that we have all the time in the world, and I would love to talk with you.” The three quickly settled onto the ground, Brody choosing to place himself between the girls for maximum rubdowns. As Ginger stroked his back, the dog blissfully drifted off to sleep. She turned to Claire. “Do you live nearby?” Claire nodded. “Yes, I live with my darling grandfather in a nearby cottage. My parents died in a car accident soon after my birth, and my grandfather took me in. Obviously, I have no memories of my parents, but when I am sleeping or in these woods, they often visit me, so I know and love them. And of course, Puppa and I talk about them all the time.” “Puppa?” Claire smiled. “It seems when I was very young, I had trouble with the name Grandpa, so started calling him Puppa, and it just kind of stuck. He likes it and says being different makes you special, so he must be special!” “Are you different, as well?” Claire nodded. “I am – just like you!” Ginger’s eyes widened, wondering how Claire would know that. She shrugged it off and continued her questioning. “So, you go to school?” Claire giggled. “Yes. Puppa and I live in a rural community, so the school bus picks up the country kids for school – also just like you.” Ginger’s eyes widened. “Okay, let’s go back a bit here. You know about me?” When Claire nodded, Ginger turned her attention to Barachiel. “It’s okay, but did you talk to Claire about me? The archangel shook her head. “I did not, Ginger. Your story is yours to tell. As with Elias, Ixchel, and Malachite, I only told Claire that I was bringing you to meet them.” She paused. “You might ask her how she knows about you since it didn’t come from me.” Ginger turned back to Claire, her curiosity piqued. “If Barachiel didn’t tell you about me, how do you know? And how did you know we would be here?” Claire smiled. “I’m a Star Kid – just like you. But, while you’re an Indigo, I’m part of the newest wave of Star Children – the Rainbow Children. As a Rainbow, I was born with the clairs fully intact. Are you familiar with them?” When Ginger shook her head in confusion, Claire continued. “Basically, I have heightened abilities without the use of my five normal senses. The clairs could be thought of as extra senses.” “Exactly. Rainbow children often incarnate with many or all of the clairs already in place. With a little guidance, they can deepen this connection that they hold within them. The first is claircognizance – clear knowing. I had a strong knowing instinct that you and Barachiel were in the woods, waiting for me. Next is Clairsentience – clear feeling. It’s a strong feeling instinct; I could sense your energy, your presence, in the forest when you arrived. An unbidden vision of you came next, and I could see you and Barachiel in my mind’s eye – clairvoyance – clear seeing. I could also hear your laughter when you arrived, which is known as clairaudience. There are lesser known clairs, but I think that’s enough for today. I feel you and I are going to be best friends, so we’ll have lots more time to talk about the others.” Ginger’s eyes filled with tears. Someone like Claire wants to be my best friend? That’s what I’ve always dreamed of. Claire hugged Ginger for a long time. Another thought was downloaded into Ginger’s brain: I have been waiting for you all my life, Ginger. We have much to do together to help move humanity and the planet forward. Ginger could only nod when Claire released her, her mind reeling with what she was learning. Claire waited until Ginger had calmed. “You and Áhkku were born with rebellious, stubborn natures as Indigo changemakers in order to tear down the old ways – the old world. Elias, your Súmi friend, chose to incarnate as a Crystal in order to begin to create the new world.” She paused, glancing at Barachiel, who smiled and nodded. “Many newer Star Kids are Rainbow Children. After Indigos tore down the old, and Crystals began creating the new, the Rainbows arrived to heal and balance not only humanity, but the planet in that new world.” Ginger’s jaw dropped. “Whoa. How would you even begin to tackle such a task? The world is a massive place!” Claire smiled at her new friend. “First of all, we Rainbows have strong will power, and we don’t waste any energy on negative emotions, Ego or drama, but live our lives in Love, Compassion, Harmony, Peace and Truth. For many of us, this is our first incarnation, as well, so we are also unbridled with past lives and karma from past choices and consequences. We also have intact souls, not having left any soul remnants behind in previous lifetimes. And, generally speaking, we are born into loving, supportive Star Children families.” “So, your parents were Star Children?” Claire nodded. “Not only were my Mom and Dad both Indigos, but Puppa was an early Indigo, so I have only known love, support and guidance from my parents and Puppa. My grandfather knows who I am and why I’m here, and helps me develop my gifts, but more important, I know who I am.” “That’s pretty mind blowing. School was hard for me. Is it hard for you?” “Not at all. I enjoy my time in school, and can resolve any negativity within it. Remember, your rebellious nature fought against institutions like schools and learning inconsequential information. You were a warrior. I just fearlessly embrace Life, and all that comes my way. As a Rainbow, I am in total alignment with Source and deeply intuitive – what you might call psychic. And that’s how I know all about you, Ginger!” Claire paused and gazed at Ginger for a long moment. “But, in the great scheme of things, we are all connected as multidimensional beings – regardless of whether or not our souls made the choice to be a Star Child.” (Excerpted from Barachiel, The Archangel Chronicles © Marty Boyle 2025.
