To understand why you're the Choice-Maker, let's take a look at the way the mind works. To simplify matters, we can divide our mind into two parts: Conscious mind (surface mind)
Subconscious mind (deeper mind) You think with your conscious mind. You are aware with your conscious mind, and you select or make choices with your conscious mind. Your subconscious mind acts upon the selections or patterns it receives from your conscious mind. Your subconscious mind is also the place where your own personal memories and experiences are registered and stored—and where the memories and patterns of the whole human race, the so-called collective consciousness, are also stored. Your subconscious or deeper mind creates your reality based on the blueprints for behavior, which have been deposited (imprinted) there by your conscious mind. This is why to change your behavior—and thus your outer reality—you must first change the patterns you feed your subconscious mind. The Key to the Subconscious As the Choice-Maker, you select the thought patterns or blueprints for life that you feed your subconscious mind. This means, if you don't like the reality you are experiencing at the moment, if there's anything about your life that's not functioning properly, if you are experiencing financial lack, dis-ease, or any other type of disharmony, you must select new thought patterns for your subconscious mind. Because your outer reality is only reflecting your deepest mental patterns. This is a great discovery! It's a great discovery because it means you're inherently free. Free to select new thought patterns, new blueprints, and thus create a new reality for yourself! Eternal Vigilance The first step in changing your mental habits is to become aware of your present mental patterns. Once you start watching your patterns, you'll realize that 99% of what you think today is a repetition of what you thought yesterday. This is very interesting: 99% of what you are thinking today is a repetition of what you thought yesterday. If you don't believe me, try observing your thoughts for a whole day. How many completely new thoughts did you actually have today? And if you were thinking anxious, fearful, depressed, cynical, critical or any other negative kinds of thoughts yesterday and the day before yesterday and the day before that, your present reality will be a reflection of that mental pattern. In other words, you will be experiencing some kind of disharmony or problem, some form of sickness, weakness or failure in some area of your life as a result of these ingrown, repetitive negative thinking patterns. This realization is an important step forward. Once you see your patterns, once you recognize your mental habits, you can change them. You can’t change anything if you are unaware of what you are doing. This is why it’s so important to be present and watch what’s going on in your mind. This is called waking up to the nature of mind. The next step is to do something about it. But that is often easier said than done. Because changing our mental patterns demands eternal vigilance because mental patterns quickly become ingrown mental habits. And like any other habit, it takes a determined effort in the beginning to change a habit (to replace a negative thought pattern with a positive one). But it can be done – all it demands is a determined effort to replace negative thoughts and beliefs with more positive uplifting thoughts and beliefs. So changing your thought patterns means that you, the Choice-Maker, begin to select new thoughts patterns for yourself.
