Freedom For Ukraine !

Barbara Berger   It was heart-warming to see the wonderful welcome the United States gave to Ukraine’s President Zelensky when he arrived in Washington DC (my hometown) on December 21, 2022. And wonderful to hear that the United States continues to stand with and support Ukraine together with all the NATO countries in Europe.   On a personal level, the outrageous Russian invasion of Ukraine, is the cause of much anguish and despair for most of us. I hear this often from people who come to me for private sessions. Many people are asking themselves – what can I do? Little me? How can I help?   So I’ve tried to make a list of the possible ways each one of us, as individuals, can help…   As far as I can see, these are the things we can do: Go to Ukraine and fight! If you are strong enough physically and have the courage, you can join the Ukrainian people’s fight for freedom and democracy. There is no better cause than this and you will be a true hero foreve Become a volunteer for one of the big AID organizations that are operating inside Ukraine like the Red Cross or Save the Children or Doctors Without Borders. Become a volunteer helper on the borders of Ukraine and join the many people in Poland and other neighboring countries who are welcoming the many displaced people who continue to flee from death and destruction in Ukraine. Donate money to support all of the above. For example, you can donate to UNITED24, the online site set up by President Zelensky at https://u24.gov.ua . On this site, you can decide whether you want to contribute money for buying weapons or for rebuilding the infrastructure or for medical aid, etc. Donate money to the various big international charities that are helping provide food and medical aid and assistance to all the people who are suffering inside Ukraine and who have been forced to flee from their homes in the freezing winter. Continue to pressure our governments to send more aid. Continue to pressure our governments to send more weapons to Ukraine. Continue to pressure our governments to put even tougher sanctions on Russia. Volunteer wherever you live to help the various charities raise money and other forms of aid for the people of Ukraine. Welcome refugees from Ukraine to our respective countries and help them in any way we can. Continue to take to the streets and demonstrate in front Russian embassies and other Russian buildings and businesses around the world for Russian forces to immediately leave Ukraine.   And finally, when we feel despair, let us all remember what the great freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi said. Gandhi said, “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it. Always.” And last but not least! PRAY FOR PEACE! Let us remember to daily pray for peace and goodwill among all human beings. Let us pray for the good people of Ukraine. Let us send them all our thoughts of love and peace and healing. Let us envision the return of peace and stability to this tormented country. May the people of Ukraine find peace and security again in their lives. May there be safe havens on their pathways, wherever they are. Let us keep them in our hearts and minds and continue to send them love and peace and healing.
